I've owned both, I like both, I'd go with Beretta. Much smother and refined action, slide glides like its on roller bearings, a simple mainspring replacement with an OEM "D" spring will give you an 8lb DA trigger pull. The same can be done on the CZ, but with much more difficulty. I also shoot the Berretta much better, ymmv.

Yes, they are VZ grips. These were bought through Wilson Combat. I'm not sure if they are available elsewhere.

It comes down to aesthetics. I'd choose the CZ.

Both They're different enough to justify it and they won't break the bank.

Having owned and shot both, my vote goes to the CZ. The Beretta has cachet because it is the current US military sidearm, and it's a sexeh gun to boot. The action on it is also silky smooth. Racking the slide is like oiled glass. However, the weird setup of the safety lever, the trigger break I never got comfortable with (it was stock, I never did the D spring upgrade) and the overall unnecessarily large proportions of it made me regret that I couldn't like it more.

The CZ fit my hand like a glove. The trigger was a bit "mushier," but, being used to the long, DA trigger pull of revolvers (my handguns of choice), the mushiness, normally a detriment to good shooting, was actually a benefit to me vis-a-vis the Beretta. The all-steel construction was also an attraction for me, being enamored of 1911s. Also, the safety flipped on and off in the same direction as a 1911, and were also frame-mounted like a 1911.

Accuracy-wise, they were pretty much a wash. However, the CZ pointed more naturally for me and I was able to hit the center of the target more quickly than with the Beretta. With the Beretta, I got tight groups.....that were all low and to the left of the target.

Seriously though - the Beretta was obviously an accurate gun, but I had a hard time adjusting to the trigger break and thus tended to shoot low and left with it. I had to make a very conscious effort to shoot the Beretta straight while the CZ was a natural for me.

I'd have to agree with this. My first impression of both firearms was extremely positive, with the edge going to the CZ75 for ergonomics. But over time I found I preferred the Beretta's smooth cycling action and trigger profile, especially after changing to the D-spring.

The CZ, while great in its own right, just didn't grow on me the way the 92 did. For the record, I've had a 92G Vertec for a few years, and my best friends have CZ 75Bs and P-01s that I shoot frequently. Planning on adding another 92 or M9 to the stable soon.

i have not shot the Cz yet, but ive heard its an awesome gun. I do own an M9A1, its a fantastic firearm. With a few Wilson combat mods and a streamlight weapon light, you have a formidable home defense weapon and an awesome gun to take to the range.

well damn. i bought the regular M9 because i missed the sale on the A1.

But i think the regular M9 looks better anyway, and i don't plan on using a light.

Can't go wrong with the standard M9.

Good choice. I agree that whichever model you were going to decide on (realize the decision is already made), I prefer no rail. I am a M9 owner but also a P-01 (compact size) owner.

My thoughts are if you already have several 1911's and several "striker" guns, why buy another? What purpose does this new gun fulfill that the guns you already own don't? Ever ask your self these questions? I vote neither.
