Springfield Armory is making thier 1911's without ILS

I read they started making them without the ILS at the beginning of the year. I picked one up last night without the ILS, to be honest I really don't see the difference between the two other then the small hole for the key.

Like always Springfield Armory comes through with a great gun. Now all I need is for the custom shop to open its doors for new work
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Interesting. I have a Long Beach Operator with a build date of May 2016 and it still has the ILS.

Now you'll need a lock before you can leave the LGS when you pick it up.

I forgot to mention they now include a cable lock.

They can't make that change and keep them on the CA roster..

I generally hope not, 'cause that may introduce rostering problems...

I bought an operator a little while ago; it had the ILS.

I never understood why folks get so bent out of shape because SA's 1911s have the ILS. If you don't like to use it, just don't use it. It is there not bothering anything or anyone. Even if you are picky about the internal pins and spring, which makes no difference in performance, you could get the spring and the two pins for less than $10 bucks and leave the locking doo dad alone as is and unlocked. Never heard of an an operator's ILS locking the gun accidently in the heat of a gun fight.

Yeah, because all those operators where killed when thier ILS failed...dead operators tell no tales.

                  Clearly.

This. Hopefully they keep making California compliant versions or we're fluffed.

They are still making the ILS version of this gun, but if you think about it the size of CA's pie (representing total CA units with ILS produced) will be much smaller.

My RO operator in 9mm I just got does not have the ILS on it. Not a big deal to me either way but makes changing the mainspring or disassembly a little easier.
