    Kimber Pro Carry II

I've recently had my eye on this .45 but don't know anyone who owns one. Guy at my local shop talked it up real big. Anyone have any experience with it?

I have one. Had some issues, sent it back to Kimber....Now it is a tack driver. It is currently one of my bedside guns, the other is my daily carry...S&W 442

I bought one a year or so ago. Took it to the range, and KA-BLAM!! Every time I pulled the trigger, it went KA-BLAM. It's a decent gun. It feels different because of the shorter barrel, but shoots just fine. It also takes a little practice dis/re assembling it because of the captive plug. My plans are to have the muzzle flush cut and 11 degree crown, solid supported plug, and a bobtail done with a new coating. No problems with it, just want to personalize it.

        Own it and very happy

I have put about 600 rounds thru mine.
The trigger is great and good accuracy.
I shipped the slide to Kimber and had them install Mepro night sights and they were super quick and did a great job.

I also carry a Shield 9mm and hate shooting it since I started shooting the Kimber. The feel and operation is just far superior.

Used to have one traded up to a colt commander XSE best decision I ever made.

I daily carry the HD version. Love it! Sold one to an assistant DA in .38 Super; loves it.

I had and EDC for several years. Never had any issues with reliability and it was amazingly accurate right out of the box. I sold it to a friend last year only because I was switching from my carry pistols having a safety to DA/SA format and my friend really wanted the Pro Carry II. He loves it and has had same good experience as myself.

Love mine. I'm up to 800 rounds, with to hiccups. One FTF on the very first mag and one FTE with a buddy's reloads. I would suggest having night sights put on at the factory though. Kimber sights are a pain to do yourself.

I have two (45 and 9mm) and they do need to be shot a couple of hundred rounds to settle in. After that it is smooth sailing, the bull barrel does help tame the recoil.
I changed the recoil springs to Wilson Combat flat wire on both of them so no need for paper clips during disassembly.

Springfield Armory 1911 are a really higher quality 1911 at any given price point. A Dan Wesson 1911 will give you Wilson Combat quality at a Kimber price. Wait till you have a warranty problem with a Kimber product

Hey look! It's the Springfield guys with the warranty argument again. Obligatory comment about I'd rather buy a Kimber and have a small chance of sending it in over buying a Springfield and most likely sending it in. You're response is, of course MIM parts and barrel rust. My response will be MIM is used by a bunch of manufacturers, and typically works great. You'll point out I didn't address the barrel rust. I'll tell you most people don't have that issue and that Kimber sells more 1911s than anyone else, so there is bound to be a larger number of defected pistols, but percentage wise their quality control is on par with everyone else. At this point we'll both devolve into anecdotal examples until the sun blows up.

So... do we really need to do this?

I've had mine since 2013, fired about 1K flawless rounds. Had it cerakoted, changed the stock sight to night sight. Overall awesome shooting gun. That's said, I had to re-staked the bushing because it was a bit loose coming from the factory. I no longer shoot it as much ever since I got my 97B. But that's not to take anything away from this Kimber. I still like it as much as the day I bought it.
