A trusty .38, plastic bottle, and painters tape. Works

But if you really want to impair a sense when situational awareness is needed most...........

I guess if you want to , and you have the luxury of time AND they are electronic muffs, and you think of it at 2am when your door is kicked in or you find yourself on a two way gun range...go for it. BUT, I have NEVER seen anyone stop to pop on their ear pro when bullets start flying...I can not imagine it would be on your mind when you wake up to a crash through your window or front door.

Squirt some toothpaste in your ears before you let off a few shots

If you're worried about hearing loss when someone is kicking in your door your priorities are a bit skewed.

^^ I agree with this guy

You know how many military people never use hearing protection in the sandbox and still come out ok ?

If I was in an HD invasion situation Id be more worried about protecting those in this house than my hearing

While your priority should be safety, decent electronic hearing protection costs ~$30. It doesn't hurt to have a pair next to your HD gun. If you're awakened by an intruder busting through your bedroom door or window, grab the gun and go. If you hear a noise downstairs, takes a few extra seconds to put it on and spare a long time of hearing damage. Electronic hearing protection can even amplify noises, making it useful in HD.

You may or may not be able to use it, but why not have the option?

Always be ready! Put on ear plugs before going to bed 😴
In HD situation, hearing loss is the least of my concern.

If you learn to shoot one handed then you can save one ear with your free hand.

While I have no firsthand experience, I've read accounts of officers who have fired guns indoors without hearing protection. They said they don't remember hearing the shots because their minds were focused on survival & there was no ringing in the ears.
