    Suggestions for a .22 pistol

    Hi Everyone,
I am actively trying to find a good option for a .22 pistol. I wanted a ruger but they are now off roster and very overpriced IMO.
I have found a S&W 22A for $270 with free shipping to my FFL, is this a decent option? I also see a few revolver style heritage .22's for around the $230 range but I imagine they aren't as accurate.

Any other suggestions? Trying to keep the budget around the $200-$400 range at this time (My new daniel defense AR was double my original budget....get it while I still can I guess)

My wife has the 22A. She never shots it any more. It just collects dust in the safe. It is a
    decent option.

Thank you for the info! I see the buckmaster's are nicer but they are also about $200 more. It's hard to pay that much for a .22 for me when that is almost what my glock was. I wish Glock made a .22 without having to convert!

If you're open to revolvers I just picked up a Ruger Single Ten. Not exactly the same price point as the others you mentioned, but it's been good to me and everyone has great things to say about it and the single six original mine is derived from. Check 'em out.

Buy once cry once. I learned it the hard way bought cheap pistols on my budget and never really liked them so i sold them at a loss and now i have what i always wanted. Save up and get what you really want and thank me later op. The 22's pay for themselves after a year or two depending how often u shoot. Good luck op.

To piggyback off this post, I take it a .22 like p22 would be a good first handgun?

But I doubt it would be a good ccw right? Looking to get a .22 handgun when I turn 21 next year or just get a 9mm.

Buck marks are for target shooting?

Some counties have minimum requirements that exclude .22 from being a CCW choice. That, and the rimfire reliability concerns...

If you were a lot closer, you could try my UFX stainless.

                          OP:

You should be able to get the basic black UFX Buckmark for right about $400 OTD.

It is heavy, but a good shooter for the price range.

I like my Ruger Mark III a bit better, except when I have to break it down to clean and reassemble.
(If you own one, you know what I am talking about. )

Thanks everyone, I think i'll wait a bit to recover from the other purchase and buy a better gun. I just have to accept how much a 22 costs now a days

If you got a Glock conversion, you'd have a tin can plinker .22. A Buck Mark is a gun that gets you into the realm of "real" target pistols, and if you want to just plink, you're good to go there. Buck Mark is a lot more pistol than the 22A IMO. At $400 it will probably last a lifetime, so the cost per year is minimal. I run through $400 of .22 ammo in 6 months. (and I buy it cheap)
