"Python" Grip Question

Correct me if I'm mistaken - I thought all Python grips carried a "gold" colored medallion:

Is this truly an early Python grip, or perhaps from the OM Trooper or the earlier "Colt 357" model?

That's what I thought. I have a mid 1950's OMM in box with papers and it carries silver but not the full checkering pattern - checkering pattern is the same as the "about 1960" Python, top line of the checkering stops below and outlines the medallion.
