    1911 frame distributors....

Anyone know of a 1911 frame maker that is on board with the CFLC and will ship to CA?

1911 frames cannot be sold as a dealer inventory item. They also cannot be imported as a frame since they cannot not be tested and placed on the list. It would have to be a PPT.

PRKarms will DROS you a 1911 frame as a long gun for a Mech Tech, but they are a little far away. DOn't know of anybody else currently offering that.

Mech-Tech will have a removable mag, pistol grip, semi-auto. Hmmmm... maybe if it has a bullet button.

IIRC, it just takes grinding down the mag release so that it is flush with the frame.

If you can't find any manufacturer willing to ship directly, just run it through a middleman like Freakshow.

Brownells has them. I have some guns to pick up after the Cow Palace show, will ask around since I also have a Mech Tech and want to commit a frame as a long gun.

That's the only drawback, once a long gun it can't go back to a pistol format. If you insist it's breaking a federal law or can be legalize as a SBR requiring a tax stamp. That's if you can get it passed here in our great state of Kalifornia.

Agreed. That's why I want to go the dedicated frame route. I have enough spare 1911 parts laying around to furnish all the internals, about my only expense would be the frame itself.
