    Smith&Wesson SD9VE

Bought this pistol as my first 9mm, originally $450 but got a sweet deal & paid $250 for the pistol. As for performance, trigger is not bad as everyone claimed I guess some don't have strength with their trigger finger. Only upgrades I did is common on stricker fire action, steel guide Rod, extended takedown levers, & removing magazine disconnect.
Anyone else had experience with the SD9VE?

Yep. Had one for a couple of years.

It's not that people don't have the finger strength, but more so that the trigger pull is a bit over the top.

If you plan on keeping it you should get the apex parts.

Congratulations on the new gun. I think the complaints that you e heard abou the trigger is on the Sigma pistols. Sigma pistols have horrendously heavy triggers with no reset. The sd..ve series are actually a vast improvement of the s&w sigma series. Bodh1 is correct. Apex triggers are a great improvement for sdve and m&p series

Well I never had issue with trigger, I guess its strength on my hands.

Again, it's not one's trigger finger strength at issue. No one is claiming that they can't pull the trigger. They are claiming that the trigger pull is mushy and gritty and the trigger weight exacerbates the problem.

Congratulations on being happy with the pistol as is. It's unfortunate that more aren't as, trigger aside, I find the SD series of pistols to be ergonomically and visually pleasing, extremely reliable, and a great value. But since most, like me, find an aftermarket trigger a virtual necessity the value of the pistol drops.

They are great guns The SD9 and SD40, I agree it is a reliable platform, But the 8lbs of pull in the trigger, Well, I don't like it. That being said I do own SD40 and the apex upgrade makes this gun a lot better to shoot. IMHO

Do you have any tutorial about removing the mag disconnect on the sd9ve?

I don't know how the magazine disconnect is removed, not gunsmith expert.

Yeah the sigmas sucked but the SD lineup is ok stock. I have the 40 and 110% agree that the trigger should be replaced if you want to shoot it a lot. I personally do not have any issues with the stock trigger like kimberlee1209 mentioned, but my wife struggled with it. If you strictly want it as a Self Defense gun, you may want to reconsider leaving that 8lb pull (peace of mind) in tact.

I installed the Apex spring kit along with the Apex trigger and what a difference it made. It really improved the accuracy as well it shorten & lighten the pull. Well worth the cost of the kits and easy to install with the help of the YouTube video's.

You never know what a bad trigger feels like until you try a good trigger. Then you get it. The more experienced of a shooter you are, the more you'll appreciate a good trigger.

Heavy by itself doesn't necessarily mean bad. There are heavy but smooth triggers out there that are good. But no good trigger is known to be gritty or mushy.

Then there's the whole reset, creep, pre-travel, stacking, overtravel, etc.....

No one ever complains about a good trigger. A good trigger can make you a better shooter. A bad trigger can only negatively affect you, it will never help you.

Great in-expensive handgun. Simple to remove the dis-connector. Drive a pin out from the rear housing for the striker release. The flapper and spring fall out.

My experience is limited to only holding one. Never fired, or even dry fired it. This thread is lol though, talks about upgrades, one being removing the magazine disconnect. Some one asks how the op removed it, op responds with I don't know, I'm not a gunsmith. Thinks people complain about the trigger because they don't have the strength to press it, lol.
