    Les Baer Super Tac owners

I am looking for your feedback on this pistol. Anything you would change? What are your experiences with accuracy, reliability, and overall impressions? I am buying one and will be reviewing the gun the same way I do all the others, just looking for some insight.

Thank you for appreciating them. Next purchase will be another Wilson CQB, But I fear that is off in the distance a little.....or MAYBE a Volkmann or a Springfield Combat operator in 9mm if anyone has one of these,

And Thank you for reading them and not creating a two page debate over ONE word haha, some people. They do not know education when it is freely handed to them. I have dealth with the 1911, Glock, and Beretta as well as MANY other platforms for 20yrs in a professional capacity.

I feel the same way. Shot a Kimber Tactical CustomII, Wilson Combat CQB Elite, Dan Wesson PM7 and they all feel about the same. Now if you talk about the finishes and frame tolerance, then you get what you pay for. Otherwise if you shoot 15 yards or less, they will all shoot about the same.

I agree and disagree, There are subtle differences that make up the whole experience. Recoil Impulse, smooth operation, how the mags eject, trigger break, how distracting the loose safety is or disconnector click, etc, etc. They all "talk to me" they all have a personality all their own....if that makes any sense. I do enjoy having the ability to use many different makes, models, calibers, and make an attempt at relaying my experiences to the folks who care to know.

I enjoy the process, external eval, breaking them apart and looking at the attention to fit and cohesion of the small working parts, and range reports. It is fun and it is also educational for me to see exactly how each maker is putting their mark on their product so to speak.

I am not taking anything away from the above comments, but I guess I am a devout student of the gun. I enjoy it very much.

I agree. Although I've read complaints about Kimber 1911s on the forums, from my personal experience, my Custom II base model had a nicer trigger than my Springfield MC Operator. Les Baers have always been on my radar. Unfortunately, I'm on a CZ kick as of late.

I have also pondered a DW....time will tell if I grab one.

Really enjoy the reviews, DW 1911 is often said to be the best production 1911 on the market, punching well above its weight so to speak... some have compared the Valor favorably to Les Baer Premier... on a side note would be interested to hear your thoughts on the Colt USMC which is pretty darn overpriced in my view... sorry to derail thread!

I have a Supertac. Its incredibly accurate and reliable. The only mechanical "issue" I've had with it, indeed all of my Baers, is that it won't function with Wilson 500BC/HD mags.

The one thing I don't like about it is the Dupont finish. It is peeling off in some areas (like the underside of the slide where the disconnect rides). I've never holstered it but I suspect the finish would not stand up to holster wear either. I wish Baer would offer a Melonite finish.

Good to know. I will stick with 47d wilson mags. If it aint broke, dont fix it

Hopeton, so you can't tell the difference between a Kimber & other 1911's ~

Or is you insult that the OP buys & sells 1911's till he finds his perfect Fit??? Or maybe, the OP should take more classes to be a pro operator shuch as yourself? Or is the OP only a just collector and not worthy of the 1911's he has acquired???

I'm looking forward to your review. The Super Tac seems to be a bit of an oddball in the LB catalog. Is it a PII with a fancy coating and night sights? Is it a "budget" SRP? It reminds me a lot of the Springfield full rail TRP in the sense that it has a mixture of "tactical" features and "target" features, like fully adjustable night sights. I mean, huh? Is that for those days when you shoot bullseye under a full moon? (Disclaimer - I own a set of adjustable night sights, I like them, but I still don't understand why they exist. Also, full-moon bullseye would be fun.)

Looking at the LB catalog also reminds me of how much I want a Monolith Commanche Heavyweight. It's the best looking pistol in the LB lineup. Dang you roster!
