    HK45 vs HK45C

I'm struggling to decide whether I want to buy the full size or compact HK45. What do you guys think?

I think you need to shoot them to figure it out.

I bought and sold an HK45. Went back to my USP45. HK45 had issues with duty ammo. 230JHP +P.

Have a friend who carries a HK45C off duty. Said that He likes it .

This + Can/Will you carry said firearm? I don't see a point in compacts if you don't/can't carry them.

I have an HK45C. I love it. Everyone who has ever shot it has loved it.

Before i got the 45C, i had never touched either model. I really didn't know what i was getting.

I chose the 45C because i thought it was going to be small enough for ccw. While it is smaller than its big brother, it's still very big. If someone handed it to me and didn't tell me it is a "compact" i would have believed it was a full sized handgun.

Like i said, i love it. But, it's a little too big for ccw, in my opinion.

There are those who will say it's perfect for ccw (people who like to ccw full size 1911s), but given the choice between my G43 and my HK45C I'm always going to ccw the G43.

If i had to choose all over again, i would still pick the 45C over the full size version.

Forgot to mention that my 45C is a very soft shooter. Even though it is chambered in .45, it feels like i am shooting a 9mm. If you get one, i bet you'll love it.

And they both use the same interchangeable parts to change the shooting version. That's a very cool feature, and an easy upgrade to do at home, no gunsmith needed.

While I agree that you should handle both, I will say if you have any inclination to carry it, ever, get the compact. As stated above it's a beefy gun. I have a USP 45 compact and the first time I handled it, I laughed. I was like, compact? Really? Only compared to the full size.

Hate my usp45c. As stated above, it hardly qualifies as compact.

of course the answer is get both. the HK45 mags also fit in the 45c.

if you intend to carry it - both are pretty good size, get teh Hk45c

Shot both side by side. In the end, I went full size HK45 because I preferred the grip and ergos, made the gun nicer to shoot for me. Also, the HK45 reset is much shorter than the compact for some reason, both in DA/SA and LEM configurations.

Well, unless you live outside of California, it's not going to be easy trying them out side-by-side. I tried the full size and compact USP's, and came to the conclusion that I want the HK45c. There are some differences between these and the USP's, but better than buying blind.

I went with the HK45 after shooting them both, I like the full size and the ergo although I would prefer the grip to be a bit thicker.

The VP45 will be the best factory polymer .45 ever made imo, once you can dial in the grips like the VP9 but have the .45 power, look out.

Have you switched out to the largest backstrap to get a more full profile on your HK45?
