    Kel Tec

I've been looking for an inexpensive .380 or 9mm and have heard the quality of the Kel-Tec is good, but when I looked on the California Roster, they do not even list Kel-Tec at all.
    Are all Kel-Tec's off roster?

If you want an inexpensive 380, try a Bersa Firestorm. I did a review here a few weeks ago. I highly recommend it and it is on roster.

Actually that is on my short list as well, as is the Kahr .380, S&W Body gaurd,
and I was also looking into the Ruger LCP and Tarus.

I am wanting to keep it below (as much as possible) $350.00 as I may get 3 of them. One for myself, son and daughter.
We all just took the CCW class and will proceed to the next in the process. I do have a Springfield EMP 9, but want a smaller one as well.

I have a KelTec P11 9mm. It's not trash. It has fired each time i have pulled the trigger.

However, with that said, it's still not a good pistol. It was the second pistol i ever bought, and i only bought it because it was $250 dollars, brand new, in 2003.

The parts are cheap plastic. The fit and finish are crude. Now that i know more about guns and have owned many others, i would not buy another KelTec pistol.

If i were you, i would buy a used, inexpensive handgun that is not a KelTec.

Looks like they're all off the roster. You can probably find one in the Calguns marketplace section or under consignment at a local shop if you really want one.

Would you include Bersa Firestorm in the mix?

I would never recommend a Bersa based on price. Based on my experience and that of many others, I think its excellent. I can out shoot with it than a small Glock and Shield. It also fed every different type of ammo I put through it. I cannot say the same for my Glock and Shield. The recoil is mild and it is easy to stay on target. Read up on it, there is very little negative written about it and certainly not any more than "name brands". If price is a consideration, then you can look at the Bersa as a GOOD alternative, not just a cheap one.

Yes, all Kel-Tec handguns are off Roster.

Because of their off Roster nature, they can be obtained via PPT but they often sell for $200-500 (depending on model & condition) more than what they retail for.

I would go glock 19 9mm is cheaper than 380 and the glock is easy to strip.

You and i have two different opinions of what constitutes "trash". I've owned it for 13 years. I've put a few hundred rounds through it on multiple occasions and it has not malfunctioned. That alone makes it better than trash. I wouldn't throw it out with my household garbage.

Have you ever owned a KelTec? I doubt it.

I gave OP information he can use to make a decision.

You just came to talk trash; literally. Add some substance to the discussion, or go troll another thread.
