Single Action Exemption?
Collapse
X
-
Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.
- from THE SECOND BOOK OF KYFHO
(Revised Eastern Sect Edition) -
Talked to a gunstore/FFL about having a 3 screw Single Six Ruger without a transfer bar blocking the hammer delivered to him. He said he would take delivery but did I want to take a chance on the state denying my possession despite the SA Exemption. California Penal Code section 12126 says a double or single action revolver must have a safety device preventing the hammer from resting directly on the cartridge. Anyone know if that section's applicable despite the exemption?
Interestingly, my Cimarron 1872 Open Top does not have any sort of feature that prevents the hammer from resting on a cartridge. To be safe, one must lower the hammer on an empty chamber. There must be some sort of exemption for this revolver since it was a piece-o-cake to buy here in CA.

A three screw Ruger SA (no transfer bar) does have a safety device preventing the hammer from resting directly on the cartridge. The first click when pulling the hammer back does this.
