    P320 conversions

I have a P320 full in .40S&W. If I wanted to convert to 9mm (also full), do I need to buy a full conversion kit? With a new slide, recoil spring, barrel and grip module?

Or, like Glock, will a 9mm barrel and magazines be enough to turn my .40 into a 9?

You can't just stick a factory Glock 9mm barrel in a 40SW slide, you have to use a 3rd party conversion barrel. And right now, no one makes/sells 3rd party conversion barrels for a P320 like they do for Glock.

And depending on your use, a conversion barrel is a half arse prospect - to be used for range use only. The extractor, ejector, extractor plunger bearing, striker, breech face - all different from 40SW to 9mm on a Glock. So even if you get a conversion barrel, you aren't making a real Glock 9mm.

Anyhow, for now you have to buy the Sig conversion kit - but the bonus is you will have a real 9mm Sig, not just a range toy.

I have spoken with a woman over at EFK Fire dragon about conversion barrels for the p320/250 line. She said at this time they have no intent of making them but more and more people are calling in to ask for them. Once enough interest is shown, they will start working on production.

Yes, you need to buy the full conversion kit. The only thing in the kit that is not needed for the conversion, is the grip module.

Conversion kit comes with replacement slide catch release. Installation took less than five minutes

            thanks....

Thanks to all for the replies and info. It's good to know.

Another thing I'm wondering is the extent to which accessories and variations on the P320 are going to hit the market. It seems like I don't see a whole lot yet. I'm wondering if that's:

            A) because the gun is still too new, or
            B) it hasn't been as successful as was hoped.

Specifically, it seems to me that SIG could, if they were so inclined, a single-stack grip module in sub-compact to create a carry gun that rivals the G42/43.

            Any thoughts on that?

I believe the P320 has been pretty successful. I think sig is putting resources into making the guns

If the FBI selects it as their new 9mm (looking very possible) civilian demand will explode.

I have/had a few P320s. If I was not so vested in the G19, I would go P320 and not look back

Single stack is really not possible due to the size of the fcg and slide stop.

I'm wondering what kind of an aftermarket you are expecting. There are triggers, sights, kits of most sizes/calibers, custom trigger work available.

Edit: to further answer your caliber conversion question, it was reported that different heights were used for the barrel/firing pin location on the 9's and 40's so they wouldnt be drop in replacements

Maybe I'm just not seeing it. I went to the Crossroads show recently and was hoping to find a grip module - there was nothing. No grips, conversion kits, nothing. It could just be the local socal show and its dwindling size, but I was hoping to see more of a presence.

Osage, Selway, TopGun all have parts. The RX and Target models are launching soon also. Lots of stuff available for the lego gun.

Why would merchants be selling accessories for guns Californians don't have?

What accessories are you looking for?

Full kit would be the way to go even if there was a conversion barrel for reasons mentioned earlier.

Far as parts availability, the P320 is being sold fast as they make them, parts seem to be in the same boat. Even though the guns been out for over a year, they've made small changes to the trigger, slide catch, and take down lever to refine the gun nicely. Now they are marketing/pushing it and they're catching on fast.

Highly recommend the conversion kits. I now have a full size .40 (the original purchase), a compact 9mm conversion kit, and a subcompact 9mm conversion kit. Could not be happier with the lot.
