    New Smith

Saw this today at the range.
Factory ammo and a new Smith&Wesson.

Arg the same thing happened to my fathers S&W snubby while i was shooting it. He called it "chuck". I miss Chuck.....

My pops dose not shoot anymore so he was not upset. More happy that i had all of my fingers.

Range reloads a few years back in my case. I should have caught it. I stopped shooting range reloads after that.

            shooter ok? we hope so..
            model?
            caliber?
            brand of ammo?
            load?
            cause? if determined yet..

Looks like a model 329PD 44 mag./44 spl. to me.

Hopefully the OP can share a little more info.

              Hope nobody was hurt.

That looks like the result of something dangerous happening. Can something like that be repaired?

That's precisely why the ONLY reloads I shoot are my own.

A little Flitz on a rag and it'll buff right out.

OP says factory ammo was used.

Speaking of OP, can you change the title to something more appropriate? This thread should have been 5 pages long by now.

Kind of hard to say definitely from the picture and my inability to enlarge it with the device I am viewing it on, but from what I can see, it looks more like a S&W problem, versus an ammo problem.

I am thinking S&W will replace that one.
When asked what qualities he most valued in his generals, Napoleon said, "give me lucky ones."

Being that it was new, how many rounds had been fired?

My first thought is that the frame was compromised when the barrel was installed. The first few rounds then finished the job.
