    Taurus PT1911

Does anyone know if the Taurus 1911s will be Cali. Certified? I think they have to have a compliant Loaded Chamber Indicator as of this year, but I could be wrong.

My buddy has a touch of 1911-itis, and this would be an ideal piece in his price range compared to a Springer Mil-Spec.

They need either a chamber loaded indicator, or a magazine disconnect in order to make it onto the list this year. If they delay until nex year, they'll need both.

I have noidea if it will be certified or not.

From the looks of things they're working on getting it approved in CA. We just had two come through the shop today to the guys @ American Handgunner/American COP magazines, so I guess we can expect a review or write-up in the near future.

In my opinion a Springfield, even just the Mil-spec model, would be a better quality pistol, but I'm a Springfield owner so I may be biased. That's also judging by the quality of other Taurus guns, I didn't get to handle the two PT1911s two extensively so I don't want to make assumptions on their quality. Plus, you have to really *try* to screw up a 1911.

I still wouldn't write them off as better then everything else in that price range right off the bat, tell your buddy to shop around a bit and make sure he sees all the makes/models available before he buys one.

I too am a springfield fan but at that price it would make a nice gun for those of us that like to tinker. I could see tricking it out with a reddot, comp and magwell. Like said above you have to try to screw up a 1911. If you have a solid enough base you could have a nice pistol for matches or just range fun. I don't trust anything rightout of the box for SD but who knows this pistol may turn out to be a diamond in the rough. I have never liked Taurus semi's but I do like their revo's. I hope this pistol follows with the revo's
