1911 thigh holster/ rig

Im having some trouble finding a good quality thigh rig for a 1911. My dads B-Day is coming up and he wants a nice thigh holster for his 1911. I have found a couple of cheapo $40 holsters on various websites, but i am looking for something of higher quality. Prob around $150 or so. I like the serpa holsters, but they dont seem to make them for a 1911. I also like the sidearmor holsters, but am unsure of being able to mount them to a thigh rig. any help would be much appreciated, i need to have this in TWO WEEKS!, well by the 2nd at least.

Yes there is, search their website, they have one for a 3v and a 6v surefire i believe

I have a Blackhawk tight holster for tactical match - I just change my 1911 pistol holster to Glock to etc. whenever I want to (takes 2 minutes) ... well built and less than $100.

Just can't use it in IDAP, IPSC, etc, etc.

I am using the Serpa Thigh holster made by blackhawk. Its available through Blackhawk direct or you can purchase at LA Police Gear in Valencia,CA (great company, fast service) here is the like for the product.

what is it that makes safariland so great? (not doubting, just not up on what to look for)

comfort, ease of use, quality of construction? Why the safariland over the blackhawk?

It's the most common of the molded polymer retention holsters. It can be used in multiple configurations. They are great holsters. They have also kind of become the standard by which others are judged. They are the recommended gear of most tactical schools.

The Serpa holsters are also quite nice (although made for fewer pistols). The design of the Serpa retention release has become a bit controversial though. Some love it. Some find it dangerous. You should know that there are a few tactical schools that won't allow Serpa holsters though.
