    CZ-97B problems

Got a brand new CZ in 45ACP, but have some problems:

    1. Mag release button is _very_ hard. And you have to press it all the way down. How to fix this?

    2. Not sure even if it's a problem - I'm quite new to guns - but it's unusual - when you insert a magazine, the slide auto-releases. It's actually even convenient, but I haven't seen it in other guns, so wondering - is this a defect, or a feature?

I hear they are a bit stiff, but I imagine if you are posting here it is a bit more than 'stiff'

Not sure how to fix that issue myself but a new gun should come 100% operational. I would call one of the CZ mod shops like Custom CZ and see if they have input.

These are very common in the 97. The mag release may just feel hard to depress because of the location, which makes me think czech's have gorilla sized hands, I got an extended mag release from cajun gun works and it makes it much easier.

As for the slide dropping on mag insertion, I see it as a feature, but it does it when I slam the mag in, if I casually insert the magazine it won't drop the slide. If it's a range toy for you, probably not a big deal.

As for the mag release, you might want to take a look inside and see if everything looks in place properly. I ordered my extended mag release for 57 shipped I believe, it's a bit pricey but cgw has to cut them to fit from shadow mag releases. They also offer an extended slide release (also altered from the shadow) that will make the controls a bit easier to hit and may also solve the slide dropping if it's a deal breaker.

Other than that, it's a fine handgun and I hope you really enjoy it!!

No, it's not the location. I have no trouble reaching it (unlike HK USP - where I have to change my grip slightly for that). It's just really, really stiff.

OK, not really a problem for me, just wanted to make sure it's not an indication of something more serious. And yes, I am slamming it - but doing so because it requires slamming, otherwise wouldn't lock.

The mag catch can be modified with a hand file to allow it to drop the mag without the button going as deep. This would require you to uninstall the mag catch so you can access the catch. I am unclear on exactly how much you would gain.

The mag catch spring can also be lighted a bit i believe.

The extended mag release that ducky_0811 mentioned can make it easier to drop the mag even if you can already reach the factory mag release.
