I have been rolling this around in my head for the last week. With all the gun ban crap going on I asked myself what would I kick myself over later if I missed out.
I own a 1911 and a Beretta Cougar in .45 and an AR in 9mm as well as about 5k rounds for the 9mm but my wife does not have a bedside gun... I need to get one! at least that was the excuse :P
I wanted to take her shooting and she does not care for the recoil of my .45, with my ammo needs handled I figured a 9mm bedside gun was in order for cough* her cough*
I was settling in on a SPA 1911 in 9mm as I know this will shoot about as soft as you can get, all that weight in a full size gun, that and the fact 1911's are like Chevy's, you can add what you want whenever you feel the need. The price was a bit more than I wanted to spend so I started looking for alternatives. Polymer frame pistols were out, I never have been a Glock guy and I wanted the extra heft. Being this is Cali my choices were severely limited. 9mm with metal frame, full size....
This led me to the CZ, which I have never shot but heard good things about. A ton of web searches and reviews firmed up the choice to a CZ SP01. The problem is availability... I used my Google-foo but noting was popping, so I decided to just start cold calling local indoor ranges. First one I called... "Yep, we have one left" KIZMET! I told him to hold it and I was on my way down...
The price was not great, but not the highway robbery I see at some shops $679.00 = $762.47 out the door after tax and fees.
Hope the little woman enjoys it as much as I am sure I will
I have the slightest tingle of buyers remorse, mostly because it felt a bit rushed. Do you guys like your CZ 75 frame guns? was it a better purchase than the SPA PX 9130 or PI 9134L I was originally intending to satisfy a soft shooter requirement for my better half?
