    CZ SP01 jailed

I have been rolling this around in my head for the last week. With all the gun ban crap going on I asked myself what would I kick myself over later if I missed out.

I own a 1911 and a Beretta Cougar in .45 and an AR in 9mm as well as about 5k rounds for the 9mm but my wife does not have a bedside gun... I need to get one! at least that was the excuse :P

I wanted to take her shooting and she does not care for the recoil of my .45, with my ammo needs handled I figured a 9mm bedside gun was in order for cough* her cough*

I was settling in on a SPA 1911 in 9mm as I know this will shoot about as soft as you can get, all that weight in a full size gun, that and the fact 1911's are like Chevy's, you can add what you want whenever you feel the need. The price was a bit more than I wanted to spend so I started looking for alternatives. Polymer frame pistols were out, I never have been a Glock guy and I wanted the extra heft. Being this is Cali my choices were severely limited. 9mm with metal frame, full size....

This led me to the CZ, which I have never shot but heard good things about. A ton of web searches and reviews firmed up the choice to a CZ SP01. The problem is availability... I used my Google-foo but noting was popping, so I decided to just start cold calling local indoor ranges. First one I called... "Yep, we have one left" KIZMET! I told him to hold it and I was on my way down...

The price was not great, but not the highway robbery I see at some shops $679.00 = $762.47 out the door after tax and fees.

Hope the little woman enjoys it as much as I am sure I will

I have the slightest tingle of buyers remorse, mostly because it felt a bit rushed. Do you guys like your CZ 75 frame guns? was it a better purchase than the SPA PX 9130 or PI 9134L I was originally intending to satisfy a soft shooter requirement for my better half?

I have a CZ 75 PCR compact decocker model. It is my favorite pistol and it is a soft shooter and is very accurate.

You will have to teach your wife how to decock the SP-01 manually.

Pre-gratz. A fine selection indeed. I do not have enough experience with the 1911 platform to comment, but i do like my CZs.

You will not be disappointed. There will be no buyers remorse once you take her out to the range and realize why you didn't buy it sooner. Don't believe all the hype you hear but this is really a great firearm.

my wife loves my SP01 with CGW guts and also the stock 97b (even with her small hand can run it fine in SA) and the CZ83(380). She doesn't like as much the alum frame guns AS much, bit more snappy for her. She can shoot them fine though. She is happy with the options we have at home.

When you pick up, get some snap caps and run 500-1000 pulls to let all those trigger parts polish and marry to each other. Much cheaper than putting 1000rnd of live ammo thru it. Congrats on the purchase

Just shot my PCR tonight and my SP-01 is awaiting the magic touch from CGW. You made a good choice!

Cool. Did you find it just as pleasing as I did? How did it shoot for you?

You will not feel any buyers remorse once you get some range time with that. I recently bought the SP-01 (largely because of all the positive things I heard about it here) and I am totally impressed. It shoots really well and with more than 500 rounds in, has operated flawlessly. Not a single failure to load, fire or eject. Slow fire, rapid fire, whatever. I really like the weight of the steel frame and the shape of the rubber grips fits my hand well. I am really excited about the SP-01.
