    STI Trojan Opinions?

I'm finally going to go ahead and get a 1911 type .45. Almost embarrassed to say I lack one. Had to depart with my Colt Gold Cup back in the mid 90's and just haven't ever replaced it. Anyway, I'm really not that knowledgeable in the realm of the 1911, and seeing there are quite a few on the Board that are, does any one have well based opinion regarding the STI Trojan? Seems like it might be towards the better end of the quality spectrum yet pretty reasonable on price and readily available. I'm not really after modding one after the purchase. Is the Trojan comparable to what my stock late 80's Gold Cup was?
    Appreciate some knowledgeable opinions.
    Thanks

Do you live in California? The STI is not on the California roster, so you won't be able to buy one new, unless you are exempt from the roster (or you have a parent or child out of state who is going to gift you one).

Too bad you had to sell your Gold Cup. That was a nice 1911!

Well, in that case, will you be either my parent or child and buy me one? I'm kidding.

The STIs are very well regarded for the price.

I'm just assuming the Gold Cups of today are not anything near the ones of yesteryear. Is this a wrong assumption? Is the STI no better than the current Gold Cup National Match? Pricing is in the same ball park for either.

Nothing wrong with a Gold Cup, it's just that since then we have a whole new pile of technology and ergonomics. If you get a Gold Cup, I'm almost certain you'd replace the sights and get a beavertail put on.
            Much peace
