USPSA Limited gun STI

Im getting an STI to shoot uspsa and 3 gun and just for some range fun...I have narrowed it down to these two...now do you think the DVC Limited is worth the extra change or would you get the executive and use the extra cash for mags and ammo.

Get the Edge. A couple of friends who are GMs in USPSA have been testing the DVC and even with tinkering the recoil handling was not smooth according to them.

I gather you are roster exempt?

DVC Limited in .40 hands down... If you've ever shot one you know why it cost $3K and that it's worth every penny...

Sadly, I don't think any STIs are on the roster though...

I missed it on the OP. You do not want a 9mm for USPSA Limited unless guaranteed to shoot As every time .

If I was in both USPSA and 3 gun then I'd get a .40 for USPSA and then a 9mm conversion for the firearm or get a separate 9mm for 3 gun.

Well I want a 9mm because I just like 9mm vs 40sw for shootability and I just enjoy shooting 9mm more...i only shoot local uspsa and not planning on going national. I only shoot for fun it's better than shooting at indoor range.

The DVC Limited will be a better gun for 9mm due to the slide lightening cuts. If you reload your own ammo you'll probably load 125 grain bullets to 1050 FPS just to be safe at the chrono station. Depending on the powder you use to make just above the required power factor, the lightened slide combined with a 10 lb recoil spring will feel faster and softer recoiling. It will cycle faster aiding in a quicker sight acquisition. USPSA is a game of speed and accuracy, so every millisecond save will add up if it's a high round stage. 32 round count stage are about the norm for club matches.

They're both equally reliable on a well tuned gun. The reason you shoot .40 is so you can make Major and benefit from the reduced scoring model of Major vs Minor.

ok...also another reason I shoot 9mm is the recoil...now I have been reading and people are saying the .40 recoil on a STI 2011 is like shooting a glock 17...is this true?

Reliability depends mostly on your mags. if you reload you can experiment which powders are to your liking in reference to recoil and cycling speed. I like Tightgroup with 122 grain hard cast loaded to 1050 FPS with my single stack 1911.
