Reliability of interchanging Glock barrels

Does changing the barrels, for caliber conversion, change the reliability of the Glock? If I change a Glock 23's 40 cal barrel to a drop-in or factory 9mm barrel, will the 9mm barrel alter the famous Glock reliability?

It's a 50-50 gamble. Some conversion barrels work 99.9%, while others in my case, work 80%. It may depend on the manufacturer too.

Any type of customizing on your Glock may cause other modifications to function efficiently; such as changing the extractor, milling part of the chamber, modify ejector, using different ammunition, etc.

Just my opinion, here's my G35 with Lone Wolf 40-9 conversion barrel.


I always stick to stock. My recommendation is to buy a G17 or G19.

I have swapped barrels on a couple of my GLOCKs and have not noticed any problems. I wouldn't use them for self defense in that configuration. I would be concerned that the springs were not matched to the rounds for example. I believe you should operate a GLOCK the way it came from the factory if you are using it for SD. But just for fun it seems pretty harmless.

I have limited experience with a G35 to 9mm barrel it has worked flawless it is a Lone Wolf barrel. The gun belongs to a friend of mine but we've shot together enough and I've talked to him to know it has worked no issues. That being said I still think it's a gamble, but for a range gun it's worth it.
