    Favorite gunsmith?

I'm looking for a good gunsmith to work on my revolver. I'd like to have the internals tuned and get out of spec parts replaced and get a beadblast finish.

I live in the high desert but would be happy to drive down the hill for the right 'smith.

If anyone has a favorite with revolver experience please let me know.

    Thanks,
    Cal

Dave's Metal Works in Covina.Great gunsmith and a great guy to do business with. He's built revolvers for some very picky Bianchi Cup and PPC shooters.
Unfortunately he's not taking in any new work right now.

Will O'Hare if you are talking about a S&W revolver.
He specializes in 1911s and S&W revolvers.
        Top quality work on both!
        He is in Corona.

I have to say avoid the rude ***** in fallbrook.
I bought my Ruger new model super black hawk from there. It was a new not used gun.
After first shooting realized the front sight was not centered.
Called Ruger they said take to it to the authorized Ruger service at the fallbrook gunshop.
I bought the gun new there and he was the only service rep in the area.
He said nothing he could do and would not even handle sending it back to Ruger to be fixed.
Ruger told me 6 months minimum and they "may" fix it.
Took it to the iron sights gunsmith and 40$ fixed beautifully.

Dave's Metal Works did a great job on my 1911.

Dave - you either love him or hate him. He either likes you or he doesn't. He's been in business so long and his pool of regulars is large enough he can be as picky as he wants with unknown faces. Never the less he's still a great old school gunsmith.

If you're looking for S&W revolver work the best place in CA, and probably on the west coast is Randy at Apex Tactical. Apex does IMO the best revolver work in the country.

Yup, if you're going to have S&W revolver work done, there really isn't a reason for not going with the best

I don't see the it as a love him/ hate him choice. I spent over 1k on a new gun from him and it had a factory flaw. He being the seller and ruger service rep should have handled the issue. Instead of just say not my problem.

Sorry did not mean to thread Jack. Just wanted op to know what kinda of service he would get if he chose that guy.

Alan Tanaka in Gardena does good work; he's primarily a revolver and 1911 smith but does other handguns too. No rifles.
