    What does delayed delivery mean????

I just got call from turners that my consignment gun purchase DROS was put on delayed delivery by DOJ. I do not have any bad record and have purchase many guns with out problem. Can some one give me number of DOJ that I can call? I called 916 227 7527 and it looks like it's just automated information.

It means that the DOJ wants to take a closer look at your background, DMV Record, or mistake on your paperwork.

It can be delayed for up to 30 days (beyond initial delivery period). If after that period of time they can not determine whether or not you're eligible to purchase a firearm your status will change to "undetermined".

At this point it is up to the dealer (ffl) to use their own discretion whether to release the firearm or not. I'm guessing that Turners will not. Always check the policy before starting DROS. It's B.S. but that's how it's done.

    edit to add -

There's no you can call. Just wait it out.

Yes, I did.... Twice. Once timed out as undetermined. Got released to me by ffl.

2nd time I was delayed for 27 days, then approved after delay.

        What questions do you have?

It won't do any good to try and call anyone. Nobody there can speak directly regarding your situation. They'll forward you to a bunch of generic canned info.

Did they give you a reason? Any reason you could think of?

Hopefully it will not go undetermined OP, because Turners policy is NOT to release when undetermined.

Yes, I had an incomplete criminal record. I was aware it may present it's self and it did, so I kind of knew what direction I had to go...... But there was no one I could talk to to confirm my suspicion. I just had to go after tackling the problem by using my best guess.

You have to do your own detective work. Since you don't have a record you need to consider any DMV registration that nay be due, a change in address, is there someone who shares a car registration with you that may have got a parking ticket, moving violation , ect.... Check over your paperwork to make sure everything was entered correctly. Did you jump the gun on "1 in 30 days"? Check all avenues that have the ability to delay/deny transfer and make sure none of them apply to you.

Other than that you can only wait and be frustrated........ I know it sucks. For the amount of money we gun buyers put into the system we should at least have an avenue to address something like this. Unfortunately the government relishes in and will use every road block available to keep us from exercising our unalienable right.

                That's what I was guessing.

I have 2 ppts at 2 different turners, both revolvers.

I did a ppt last month at turners and had no issues.

Were they entered correctly as exempt of the "1 in 30" rule. I'd double check that

If OP's issue was a 1 in 30 violation the DOJ would have denied, not delayed.

The possibilities are endless. Could be some dude with the same name just got arrested for a felony and the computer's not 100% sure it's not you without getting a human involved. Could be you have some old arrest that's so old somebody just entered the paper record into the computer but not the resolution (charges dismissed!).

It may be DMV, I traded in my car last year to a Honda dealer and I keep receiving letters from DMV about it I did notified rhe dealer to take care of it. I will check if it's still on my name and if so registration may be due.

That's probably it, although as someone else mentioned earlier, it would usually be a denial (as opposed to delay). But you never know, their records are so jumbled at the DOJ, I'm surprised they get anything right.

                              edit to add -

It's truly a guessing game..... Unfortunately. You'll probably get "approved after delay" any day now though by the sound of your story. It will be water under the bridge soon I'm sure.
