    Valuable lesson on Ca. Shield

Learned something this afternoon on the Ca. version S&W Shield, if you want to use the "Old Pencil" firing pin (Striker) test function.. Make sure you hold the loaded chamber indicator up out of the way while testing..

Put a new Apex Tactical Sear in a Shield I just got and had the Good Fortune of disassembling it 2 or 3 times when it failed the "Pencil Test"..
Finally figured out it was Not the gun But ME.. The pencil eraser was not seating all the way down to the breech face because of the Loaded Chamber Indicator..

    LOL. Yup, you're right.
I had to do this a year ago on a SD9VE when installing an Apex spring kit and checking function.
I knew it was assembled right, why no flying pencil ????
It was a head scratcher for a minute.
