I have many . But I'm willing to share 1 of my most prized . Pops duty weapon . Manufactured 1961 . He became chief of police 1980 . 20 years on patrol with this weapon . A Colt model 357 . 1 of only 15,000. Let me see your keep sake .

That's beautiful. Unfortunately my father doesn't own any guns. I'll be starting the tradition and make sure my kids will get a rifle, shotgun and a couple of pistols.

The Blackhawk in 45LC is the first non-22 handgun that I shot. My dad let me have it when I got my house. He also let me take his M1917 rifle, with which he shot his first deer

Wow, that is very nice, especially that it has a story.

Unfortunately, I don't have any hand-me-down guns from either parent nor from any of my grandparents. Sadly, my siblings and I did not grow up with exposure to guns primarily due to financial constraints.

My kids will have a different story to tell though. However, not one of them is as enthusiastic as their old man... Time will tell...

Nice . I also have a Remington model 6 . Which is right up there in sentimental value . Was my gramps gun as a kid . Shot anything and everything with it , including his first deer .

Same here, coming from a non-gun family. I got my grandpa's old .410 that he got for his 12th birthday, but that's the only gun in the family. But my son is going to have a gold mine when he gets older

I grew up duck and pheasant hunting with my old man, so I've always been around firearms of some kind. It didn't really become a serious hobby until the last couple years. Give them time and make it fun for them, and they'll come around. Even my sister is a damn good shot. She, at one point, could knock down clay pigeons with ease.

Many times I've taken them shooting, except the littlest one, and I get that "Are we done yet?" look after 30 minutes. Consistently. Still exercising patience though...

I have two, but only putting pics of the worthy gun. Gramps gave me a 410 pump that my girls now use, but the prize is my Ithica 200e. Gramps bought is new and used it hunting from Alaska to most western states. If he had given me the 44-40 then the Ithica would move down a spot.

Had to bring her back to life. After years I finally found a replacement bolt (original was lost between my childhood and adult hood), magazine receiver plate, buttstock plate (recoil pad?) and some magazines. Refinished the stock that another one of my older brothers had started and and lost interest in. Got more into it than its worth...but I remember going to the hardware store with pops and buying .22lr CCI mini-mags for .89 cents per hundred round box and taking it back to my aunts ranch and learning to shoot...soda cans, milk jugs and paper targets...with it in the backyard. Good times.
