S&W manufacturer dates.

Does anyone know of a website that shows manufacturer dates for S&W revolvers?I am trying to find the date of a 686 and am having no luck.

The easiest way is to buy the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson.
I have it already.

What is the serial number? (example: 123xxx with the last 3 digits shown as x for your protection from scammers.)

I'll try to see if my new book that I got for Christmas has your DOB listed!

Some members at the various S&W forums are happy to give the DOB for firearms; but there is a heck of a lot more fun and informative info (as well as lots of photos) in the book that makes it well worth having for $30 or $40, IMHO.

Twice, when calling about working up reloading data for a model 29 and a model 57 (both S prefix models,) the ballistics person that I spoke with helped me out with dates.
Friendly people there.

I emailed S&W on build date of my Highway Patrolman.
They emailed me back with info that it was built near end of 1956.
They are very helpful.
