So I take my 2 new 1911's out to Sac Valley on Sunday with about 300 rounds of Winchester Whitebox .45ACP as well as 200 or so rounds of Aguila .45ACP. Both 230 Grains FMJ.
1. Armscor (RIA) 1911 shipped with Novak's 8 round mag and was a shockingly good shooter. No failures of any kind right out of the box. I bought this off of JG Sales for $399 days before the election...Didnt expect much but I have to say so far it is all around an accurate and reliable 1911. The only negative I have to say is it did not like the stock springfield 8 round mags that came with my SF milspec 1911 (see below). They seem to fall out of the magwell while firing. Minor problem right?
Other mags were fine.
2. Springfield Milspec 1911. Doesn't seem to mind what mag you use but I am having a regular FTRB. Failure to return "fully" to battery. Happened on just about every full mag I fired. The round chambers up to about 1/4" to
1/8" of an inch short of full battery. A very light touch to the back of the slide will coax it to achieve full battery however. The funny thing is I removed the slide and went to town with lubrication to see if that would resolve. All I got was oily hands and no change in functioning status. (please no Viagra jokes
)
Sufficiently cleaned after recieving it.
Both ammo types same issue.
Both mag types same issue.
Not a single ejection failure when fired.
No noticible burrs or bad machining on the slide or frame.
Feed ramp looks and feels fine though the feed ramp i would exclude from being the culprit since the round will chamber so close to FB.
Extractor problem maybe???
Anyone else experienced an issue like this?
thanks in advance for any ideas here...
