Hi guys. I got a chance to get a .25 auto Beretta jetfire, good condition strong blueing tip-up barrel and good plastic grips. But it is eather missing a saftey, or it never had one. Were theese avalable without a saftey? It didnt look broken, but I didnt look all that hard. I like the fact that this was Bond's first gun, but other than that, what are they worth?

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms, disarm only those who are neither inclined, nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants. They serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
-- Thomas Jefferson, 1764

From what I've seen, the going rate for a 950 in Kalifornia is in the $200-$300 range. The rarity of your gun might make it more valuable.
In the Free USA, these guns are more in the $200 range, but since they aren't on the Commissar's Approved List, they seem to sell for more here

The early Jetfire was produced without a manual safety, as you have found. The one thing I recall is that Beretta set up a factory in Brazil to manufacture these as well as some other handguns during the 1950's IIRC. I have seen a 950 that was marked as "Made in Brasil" on the side, but it has been about 20 years since then. I have seen the US made 950bs for sale at some amazingly high prices lately which is strange since there were many of them produced, they are reliable and well made pistols despite being .25 acp. The pre safety guns would have more value to a collector, I know this as I would like one myself. As far as the 007 connection is concerned there has been some debate over the years as to which Beretta .25 Ian Fleming would have known about in the early 1950's when he started writing the novels. Some think the more likely candidate is the model 918 which was in production for many years prior to the release of the Jetfire which was supposed to be first sold in the year 1953, the same year that the first Bond book "Casino Royale" was published.Comment
