Technically he was my step-father, but my biological dad and I drifted apart over the course of my 20's since he and my mother split when I was 18, which we don't talk much anymore and he moved away, and my step-dad treated my sister and I like we were his own, and we connected very well.
Sadly almost two years ago we lost him unexpectedly about a month after his birthday. I bought him this G17 for fathers day a year before, he had ideas for how he wanted it done, but never had the time or extra money to get it done. After he passed the gun was given back to me and I finally got it done the way he told me he would've liked it, plus adding a little more as a tribute to him. It's not a fancy revolver, but he wouldn't have wanted a Smith or Colt messed with.
RIP Pop, hopefully I got this gun customized like how you would've wanted it.
The slide is Cerakoted Tungsten, and the frame is done in Magpul FDE. Along with the engraving of his name and the US Army, which he was very proud of his time in the service. Only other thing I did was put a Apex trigger that he wanted.
In case anyone is interested I had the Cerakote done by Ray at Del Valle Gunsmithing in Marina. I had the engraving done by Bob at D3 Signs & Plastics in Salinas.
