Is it bad for my gun/ammo to get hot?

I can't carry at work, so I leave my handgun in the car. When I got off today, the steel was hot to the touch. Considering it will get much hotter soon, is this bad for the firearm or ammo to continuously be hot?

The gun is ruined. Just give it to me.

Send the ammo to me. I have ammo disposal equipment.

Slim chance of having any ill effects on the handgun, but the powder in the ammo may or may not become degraded due to the extreme temps in the car.

Water and moisture is what you gotta be worried about
You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life.

Dustin Ellerman, Winner of Top Shot Season 3, posted this video of his FNX Tactical. It had been sitting out in the Texas heat, and the polymer grip became pliable.I am not concerned about the grip, but the more important part of the frame, like the slide rails.

              Depends?.....

Heat is bad, but the temperature you describe is not hot. If your car heats up to 300F or so, move.

I leave ammo in the car all the time (summer included). I've not seen any ill affects what so ever.

i thought you aren't allowed to keep your guns in your trunk unless u r transporting it to the range, or back to your home (?)

Separate issue. But, you can transport hand guns in the trunk of your car (unloaded).

As long as the plastic on those type of thingies doesn’t melt, no problem. If it has wood grips, the wood may get dried out and start to crack.
