    CZ-75 vs. CZ-85

    Which one is better?

Also, which of the models offers cock-and-lock as well as DA? Just curious, I am getting kind of close to making a decision and such...

Another proof that UC system is going down the toilet. You can't even do a simple research like this?

85 is the ambidexterous version of 75. Safety and slide lock. not the magazine release though. Both 75B(the basic ones) can be used as SA/DA or SA. 75BD is the one with decocker(no cock and lock)

Finally a subject you and I can agree on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have made a very wise choice in considering any CZ (other than the CZ100). As stated the 85 is the ambi version but is not on the list. The 75 is on the list, can be carried cocked and locked and if you need the ambi safeties (as I do) the 40 cal version has that feature (new 9mm's may as well; I haven't checked). Either one is a fine choice in a very well made and accurate pistol.
Whichever version you choose you will not be sorry.

LOL what have we disagreed on?

Yep, I am leaning on it pretty hard. Should I get the SS or regular blued?

I don't think SS version is CA approved. The blued one is the basic one and the finish is actually something called a polycoat. Basically think of some paint over the finish.

The CZ 75 SP-01 is ambi, on the roster and has a rail, which adds some weight but keeps the muzzle-flip down. It's da/sa and can be manually decocked if you want to carry with a round in the chamber, you just need to practice a little... a great pistol, takes the old 75 mags too if you have some around.

SP-01 has an ambi decocker/safety but not an ambi slidelock (or mag release).

Hard to find a pistol that does, but most Lefties can drop a mag pretty quick...
With a bolt hold-open you only need a slide lock for inspections & malfunctions... which you train for with both hands anyway

Yup not arguing at all, just mentioning as the 85 actually does have an ambi slide stop is all, a rather unique feature. And it has that cool adjustable rear sight, too.

My CZ75 is my all time favorite pistol - it SHOOTs. I use it in compeition.

They are very nice, very accurate, and very friendly in the hand. Mine is a tuff coat type of black finish - not blued and it's durable.

Of course mine is a little special - it's a 75SA converted to DA - the SA has a deeper beavertail and fit me better - plus the safety is larger and easier for my stubby fingers to use fast after the draw.

Mine now sports the thin aluminum grips with skate tape.

I have the CZ 75B in 9mm, with manual safety. When I set out to buy this pistol, I wanted the decocker version because the majority of my non-Glock auto-loaders were Sig with decockers.

When a decocker version of the CZ wasn't available and I still needed instant gratification, I "settled" for the manual safety version and am very glad that I did. That version can be carried C&L and also, it can be manually decocked to the same hammer rest stop as the decocker version. Manual decocking is described in the owner's manual and is pretty simple. The version with the safety offers more options and if carried, offers C&L.

Very nice pistol to shoot, I also bought the 22 cal adapter kit which is a delight to shoot on that frame.
