    Caught humpback disease

Just picked up a new (old) Smith and Wesson Model 49.

    About 1980 vintage.

I like these humpbacks. I'd like to have more of them.

I am wih you. Have a 49 , in blue and wife a 49 in Nicole for CCW. I have 640 I carried as a back up for years. You can shoot these from inside a coat pocket if you have too.

Yeah - I got the bug for a BUG (nyuck, nyuck) a few years back and finally found a 649-3 for a fair price. It's the stainless in .357. I even added it to my CCW last renewal...took a good ribbing from the instructor over it too!

I understand the perils of an exposed hammer

But, I always thought that bobbing the hammer ought to be enough. Putting extra metal on a small handgun seems criminal.

Bobbed hammers can lead to light primer strikes, already a problem in J-Frames. Tiny extra bit of metal = full weight hammer reliability.

You and your wife sound kinky.

640 no dash owner here. I like it very much in terms of reliability, durability, accuracy and someone mentioned you can shoot it while still in a jacket pocket.

One of the advantages of the bodyguard is you can cock the hammer and shoot single action if you want to, but still the hammer can't snag.

                Sort of a have-your-cake-and-eat-it-too deal.

+1. Big plus when dealing with zombies requiring an accurate head shot.

Thanks for making me, slightly less, ignorant.

Aesthetically, I still can't wrap my head around that hump though.
