    Off roster question

I'm probably in the wrong section but here goes.

A friend was looking for a G30sf. He called a couple of local shops and no one seemed to have one in stock. One shop told him that they didn't have a G30sf, but had a G30s.

Now I know the G30s is off roster (I have one), but the owner of the shop let my friend come down and dros the pistol. Will doj recognize that it is off roster and not allow the shop to release it? Or will he slip through the cracks?

    Could have been a consignment.

          I don't believe it was a consignment.

The dealer is supposed to DROS things on the Roster only, unless
            - the buyer is exempt - principally LEO
            - the gun is exempt - principally C&R
            - the transaction is exempt - PPT, and interstate intrafamilial

For each of those exceptions there is a place in the DROS input to document.

I was able to get a little clarification today. Apparently the guy at the shop is under the impression that because the G30s is a SF frame and the G30SF is on roster it's okay to dros it.

Is it possible that my friend may fall through the cracks and actually be able to pick it up?

If the ship did the DROS as an on roster model it should go through without issues.

But if they drop by for an audit while the gun is on hold the jig will be up...

Or depending on how complete of an audit is done later, if they run the SN's with the manufacturer and find out what model it was....

No! This really is a friend and coworker. I already have a 30s that I've had for a few years that I got before SSE went away.

Tell him to have fun trying to add it to a permit - hilarity will ensue. He either lies about the real model, and someday gets called on it in a traffic stop - or he tells the truth and the firearm he is trying to list doesn't match AFS.

At first it might seem a blessing in disguise for the FFL to be this dumb, but later maybe not so much a blessing.

I would pawn and redeem it as the correct model so AFS gets updated, before adding to a permit.

Looks like there's 3 Glock 30s on the Roster
