A few words on HK customer service and the P30

I bought a LNIB HK P30, the only flaw was that it only came with 1 ten round mag and the latch on the case was broken, the person I bought it off of said it came that way from the gun shop in which it was purchased new.

I hear a lot of people bad mouthing HK customer support, however I called HK and told them the story... within 10 days they sent me a new gun case and a brand new 10 round mag. For free. I was pretty impressed.

Now on to a few words on the P30. I love the way this gun feels in my hand! Points very naturally. I was very excited to take it to the range. Yesterday I did so...

The trigger is horrible (Variant 3). All my shots were VERY low after some practice I was able to get a bit better. Normally I put the sights on target and I am able to get in the general vicinity weather it be my 92FS (D Spring replaced), SIG MK25 (With SRT), HK P7M8, Glock 19, Walther PK380, or Ruger .22. I really had to concentrate on the trigger in order to even feel good about myself (a tight group is not even an option). Rapid fire is not nearly as rapid with any of my other pistols.

Very embarrassing... I don't want to get a trigger job I guess I just need to practice more with it...

Here is a photo of my target, at like 7 yards... after some practice...

I have noticed the hk trigfer reset tends to be a bit long compared to a sig thus making it a bit harder to get good groups sometimes. Personally I would say practice makes perfect.

That's why I have a VP9. Also have an HK45 with the DA/SA safety/decocker and I love it. Used to have a USP45 and loved it too. Some people just don't like HK triggers. Im glad Im not one of them. Some people also hate Sig, Glock and the M&P9 triggers. I never had a problem getting proficient with them. There's some really picky people that just like to complain about everything.

Wow, a new case and mag for free, that is awesome, almost unheard of... in any industry.

Congrats on your new P30. Having owned many kinds of guns including a small bunch of Hk's... not many guns I eventually ended up loving started off with "love at first shot" at the range. Some guns take a while and some practice before something clicks, and you figure what the creators designed it to be. Such was the case with my HK's. Wasn't too crazy about them at the beginning, but I just kept them. Now I am obsessed with them, and love them, particularly the LEM trigger.

Give that P30 some time, take it with you to the range, don't fight with it. And it's only a matter of time you'll see the light. Good luck.

They're always good in my books!

Sometimes I think their guns are so well-built that there's no need for customer service.

Just need more practice that's all...
I will probably shoot poorly as well if I were to use DA/SA..
I am used to shooting striker fire system.

Good to hear they treated you right. Hope to get an HK45c soon. And a USP40. Love HK in pretty much every way. The triggers are a little weird but not terrible IMO.
History can repeat itself, and it will soon. And when it does, it won't be the North and South. It'll be the "US Government" and the TRUE American people fed up with the Governments insidious ways, fueled by determination to see this Country return to its former glory.

Not bad if you shot that group from a DA trigger press.

Dry fire it and it will improve. It has potential. Below is the result of my HK P2000 in SA trigger press. The HK P30 LEM performed the same.

Good to hear about their good customer service. I don't like the v3 trigger on the p30 either. It feels too mushy with long travel and doesn't break cleanly. Practice helps, but I wouldn't be against a trigger job for it.

                    Congrats on a great pistol.
Lots of dry fire practice will also help learn the trigger.

The HK DA pulls are pretty bad. The LEMs are pretty usable out of the box. I just got a P30 LEM specifically for the added safety the LEM/hammer adds when carrying AIWB.

HK triggers are the worst I've ever experienced

They make Glock triggers feel like target guns.

If you buy a DA/SA gun and shoot DA horribly but are happy with your SA results

You need to stop shooting so much SA and get your DA game on point.

Agreed. The DA trigger pull is actually pretty good. It is very smooth. But the SA trigger pull is way too long for a DA/SA pistol, and the reset is a mile long. Apparently, HK does not offer a "match" trigger kit to improve it, as with the USP.

I prefer the USP to the P30 because the USP has a decent SA trigger and good reset, and you can carry it cocked-and-locked, and always shoot SA.

It is too bad because the P30 has outstanding ergonomics. The grips are excellent. But the trigger was terrible, and I traded mine. (The VP9, however, has a very good out-of-the-box trigger.)
