I purchased the last one in my area that was offered through Turner's back in March with an AF (2005) date code. I found out at that time that they are no longer being made, which means that they will eventually be taken off the CA approved list for new handguns. Does anyone know what date that will happen, or a website that has this info?

9/10/2006 ....unless, for some reason, they renew.

If I took the time to look, I would have clicked on the "CA roster of approved handguns" at the top and got the answer myself. Oh well, you learn as you go. Thanks for the quick reply anyway.

I just bought a 1995 made one for my birthday. So happy I got it in before it dropped off the list.

I've had mine for close to five months now and it's still unfired NIB. I just may leave it that way but I'm sure because of it's excellent accuracy and fine craftsmanship I might be tempted.

I say shoot it.. I think you're deluding yourself if you think it's going to become an investment type firearm.. They're not that rare.. while you may get a few extra dollars for having it pristine, I think you'll enjoy shooting it more than you will trying to collect it for "financial" benefit..

I will more than likely shoot it. I just haven't got around to it. I've wanted one for ten years and had a chance to get one in '96 NIB for 650 dollars, but funds were tight. I got it now especially because: 1) It's German craftsmanship at it's best for a production pistol.. 2) It's the last all steel HK pistol, and 3) Being that they're no longer imported and will probably be taken off the approved list in Sept., the only way to get them will be a CA PPT or consignment sale. That's when some sellers will take advantage of this situation and the prices will spike on these, rare or not.

The next best thing to owning one, is to have your shooting buddy own one. We go shooting every Sunday and he brings it out a lot. OH JOY!
