    H&K USP 9c Question

So a few months ago I picked up a new 9c.

Between my AR builds and other things going on, I did not have opportunity to go shoot it.

Anyway, Took it along with a few of my other guns to the range(CZ, Shield) and proceeded to shoot some 115gr ammo.

I found quickly the USP did not like any of the ammo I had brought. PMC, Federal, Perfect all 115gr. Almost every single or every other shot it would FTE.

On the way up to the range i did pickup an extra box of 147gr HST(50) to make sure ran through all the guns ok and the USP had not one issues with this ammo.

All of my other 9mm have no issues with 115gr, is this normal for the H&K?

    Thanks for the input.

A little bit more information would help. "Did not like" as in it wouldn't feed, or light primer strikes, or what?

My experiences with a wide variety of HK including USP, P2000 and P7M8 is that they would eat whatever I fed them. Probably the least finicky of all my guns.

      Sorry about that -

It would not fully eject the spent round, stuck in between slide and ejection port.

My USPc hasn't had any problems with 115 grain to 147. It should handle them all flawlessly.

I've never had an issue with mine with over 5k rounds through it.

Break it in with 124gr NATO spec ammo

              Thanks all!

I will buy some heavier ammo and break in and see if that helps.

I was honestly a little surprised it didn't want to eat any of the 115gr i had.

Mine did that once on the fourth round of the first mag. Nothing since.

I have multiple HK in 9mm. Never a problem, even with people limp wristing it. Is it used or new? Most of mine have been used, so maybe that makes a difference.

                    1. Keep cycling the slide
                    2. Leave the slide locked back during storage.

Your new recoil spring maybe a bit stiff for the 115gr ammo. After 500 rds, your USPc should be good to go.

I suppose just needs to be broken in a bit- although I've never owned a handgun that didn't function well straight out of the box- I did buy my HKUSP9c used here on Calguns and the slide is extremely easy to rack-

out of all my handguns, my HKUSP9c seems to be the one that would never let me down w any type of ammo ever- I'm sure your's will turn out fine after few trips to the range- all I shoot through mine is 115gr since don't use for HD.

Also, great choice OP- I'm thinking of getting a second- I always get pairs of the 9mm's I like!

The USP Compacts have very stiff springs when new. Hand cycle the slide a ton and it'll loosen up. Or just shoot a bunch of the heavier ammo to loosen it up. Don't worry about wearing out your recoil spring, it'll last 25k-50k rounds.

The only issues my USP's have had is if I limp wrist them. I can actually get them to have fte/ftf when I purposely loosen my grip. The pistol I shoot most is my expert in .45. It feeds everything, but a firm grip definitely helps. Next time you're at the range, give it a try.

hmmm never had this happen with any H&K. even new out of the box.
I have to wonder if you are riding the slide with your thumb? or making contact somewhere that is interfering with the function?

                              USP 9mm FTE

I had maybe 3 FTE in my first 150 rounds with a full size 9mm. All occurred using Walmart cheap whitebox ammo (115 gr). I've had no issues with the 750+ rounds since then, although I have been using other ammo brands. I have a feeling it was a combination of the cheap ammo and just breaking in a new gun. Don't sweat it too much unless it doesn't go away soon.
