Why? It is a gun a gun is a tool and only a moron would care if a use mark was on a gun. Jeesh.
California's politicians and unionized government employees are a crime gang that makes the Mexican drug cartels look like a Girl Scout Troop in comparison.

If the scratches aren't too deep, you can get them out.

Ask for a discount since it's blemished, shot the crap out of it and beat it up, refinish it in a couple years.

Wow really moron huh, these marks tell me he doesn't know what he's doing with that gun or doesn't care about it and makes me wonder how it's been treated so don't bother chiming in if you have nothing usedul to say. I'm looking for advice on how to buff it off guy

One of my Wilson Combat guns wears the mark of the beast...put there by none other than the good folks at Wilson Combat themselves. It didn't bother me enough to send it back. It's a hard chrome gun and they would have had to send it out to their chrome supplier and I didn't want to be without it that long. Plus it reminds me that everyone screws up on occasion...even the pros.

It would be expensive to remove the billboard and refinish it. Get another 1911 instead. What about Springfield or a Sig?

I would want to take a look in person if possible. I got a VG deal on a similar colt commander that looked horrible in pics I got. In person it was scratched and dinged for sure but not as bad as the pictures made it look. I got some very fine scotch brite pads and polished it up some. It's not perfect but is a heck of a good shooter.

I just love all the people in CalGuns that say a gun is just a tool.
I"m sure when they go to buy a gun, no need for an inspection of the firearm or pictures. They just buy the firearm for the asking price sight unseen, because after all it is just a tool. Ha Ha

Would you say the same of your car after it gets a noticeable dent in the driver's door? You'd see it every time you get in the car to drive. Car would still work...but you wouldn't mind the dent, would you?

                            Exactly.

FWIW, I bought a Colt XSE stainless from Bud's Gun Shop. Gun looked great until I removed the slide stop, which showed excessive wear (as if its a used gun or was abused). I have several 1911s so I knew the difference between how a new & well-used 1911 should look. Anyway, I called Colt, sent them the pistol and it was returned 3-4 weeks later. 95% of the light-moderate scratches were gone.

I'm sure there are DIYers that can tell you how to minimize the scratch but I have a hunch that's not your talent.
