    Beretta 950 broken grips

I have a Beretta MD 950 BS in .25cal (25 jetfire) and I'm having a problem with the grip on the left side cracking in half. I bought it about 8 years ago and have been through 6 sets of grips. It cracks at the grip screw. I've tried to leave the screw very loose heck even very tight but if i shoot the darn thing the grip breaks in half.
If anyone has one of these and has had this issue i would like to hear from you. Basic internet search has revealed nothing other than buy wood grips, which i'm not opposed to at all however 6 sets of grips made by Beretta(plastic) has me a little skeptical that wood would solve this issue.

I've owned quite a few Jetfires w/ both platic & wood grips and never came across such a problem. Are you using a grip washer between the grip and head? If so, try placing the washer between the frame and grip.

There is no washer at all. Both screws have a beveled head and tighten right to the frame.

I think my Jetfires have washers (will try and check over the weekend).

I have one also that I bought in 1983 and have had no problems with the grips whatsoever.

Place the grip on the weapon. Then wrap some thread (the sewing kind) on the grip screw at the base of the beveled head. Wrap the thread around 6 to 8 times. Slowly tighten the grip screw. As the screw bevel comes in contact with the plastic grip, be careful. Just snug. The screw doesn't have to be tight, just snug.

Try it & let me know how it works.

              Good Luck.

I need to order another set of grips to try this. Since I posted this I have been wondering if the grip screw could be the culprit. At this point I want to get a set of nice wood grips however I think if I can find another set of the plastic for a cheap price I am going to try your idea, thank you for that. Give me some time to get some new grips and I will post the results.

I ended up using a lil crazy glue on the inside of my grip on both (950 bs) sides and blue locktite for screws.
