9mm fanboys, ammo question

I'm getting a small 9mm to add to my LTC permit and wanted to know if anyone had seen any test results, etc. on what type of ammunition is the most effective for concealable 9mm guns.

Light and fast, slow and heavy, midweight? etc.

147 Speer gold dot shoot the best out of my 5" XD and 3" XD. It's been hard to find the last 2 years but sgammo just had 50 rnd packs for like $28.

Speer gold dot, plus p option is available in all grains too. If not using plus p you can buy Speer lawman, range anmo loaded the same which is a plus since it will imitate your defense ammo.

I use Speer GDs HPs in both of my CCW weapons. 115gr in my LC9 and 124gr in my HK P7. P7 hates 115gr and the LC9 hates the heavier 124gr. 147gr HPs wont even function in my P7. Every gun is different so you need to run some through your weapons and make sure they dont jam, stove pipe, etc. What may work brilliantly for one person may not work for someone else. I do not recommend FMJ for carry ammo, too much over penetration. HPs are the way to go. Keep the FMJs for the range.

The ammo quest viddeos are very good. Federal HST or Winchester Ranger-T if you can find them, good luck. 124 gr is my prefrence, but I have 147gr +p HST loaded right now.

I've always used HST's but when I picked up a short barreled XDS, I did some more research to find a round that performed well out of a shorter barrel. I was happy to find the videos that jimmykan posted. No reason to switch. I like the 124g personally. YMMV

Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel Is what I carry in Glock 43. Gold Dot +P is also good from short barrels if you can't find GDSB.

In a 4" barrel like G19, I would probably go standard pressure Gold Dot. The Fed HST 147gr is also great stuff.

From what I read when I started doing research for the best ammo for my Shield 9mm, I found that the Federal HST 124gr was one of the best, if not the best ammo for the job.

115 Gr Silver tip hollow points by Winchester work in my Ruger P89,93 and 95 especially the shorter barrel 93. They have been great in my Rami too.

Unfortunately the authorities frown upon me shooting people to test bullet performance. I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars and days of my time mixing ballistic gel to do comparisons if someone has already done it.

I haven't owned a 9mm handgun in 30+years and never carried one for self defense so I'm not trolling, I'm asking for information.
