Glock SF frames vs standard frames.

So I picked up and took to the range today my first SF frame glock, (model 30 sf). I was amazed how much of a difference there is vs my g17. On my g17 and every other glock i own i have the grip force bevertails installed because i get horrendous slide bite. On my g30 sf i had no need to put it on. I did not get slide bite once. Im amazed at how much of a difference the sf vs standard is. Any idea what the exact difference is in terms of mesurement ?

I think the SF frames are 2mm shorter front to back

^2mm, I won't own a 3rd gen Large frame glock unless it's an SF, have a G20 and G29 both the SF variant, shot a G21 (non-SF)...no good for my hands

Only own one Glock- Glock 30sf, and love it. Remember handling a regular Glock 21 in LGS years ago and didn't feel comfortable in my hands w grip size.

It likely all gets back to the original spec. Marketing says we want a gun to shoot a 1.265" x .480" wide round, with x rounds capacity. Engineering takes the grip aspect ratio of the smaller caliber guns, scales it right up and says, we got your g21, g20 right here.

After introduction, feedback comes in that some customers would love a little smaller grip for their more diminutive handed members. The engineers sharpen their pencils and shortly there after the SF models are born. They are so successful Glock marketing figures out the original is no longer needed and becomes a foot note in their marketing books.

45 Auto is longer and fatter than a 9mm Parabellum.

I am the opposite. I like the larger frame.

I have large hands and I still prefer the sf models.

The large frame 10/45 SF will still have a wider grip than the 9/40/357 standard frame because the larger caliber frames are wider to fit the wider slides.

The grip area of the frame doesn't exhibit as large of a difference as the hump area shown in the picture. I like the SF myself and had a 21SF back in the day

Actually, no. The large frame SF Glocks are wider and also have a longer length of pull.

I have a 17 and 30SF. Pick up both using your regular grip, stick your finger in the trigger guard as far as it will go and lay your finger on the trigger. You'll notice that the 17 will have a shorter LOP. The circumference of the grip also plays a role in you trigger finger placement.
