Glock 39

Hi Guys:

Looking for a 10 round 45 for ccw. Have a 30sf but want something slightly smaller. Looked at picking up a 30s but they rarely pop up here and disappear rather quickly. Then I stumbled onto the 38 and gap round.

Anyone who owns a 39: Can you please post some pics of the 39 with a 10 round mag next to a 26 and 30sf? Want to see how it would compare to my 26 and 30sf. any other thoughts from the group on a 39 with a 10 round mag? Seems finding the 10 round mags can be a hunt though. I'm worried the 39 will look odd with a 10 round (37) mag attached. A quick google search didn't yield much but I'm imaging a 26 with a 18round mag hanging out the back.This might hold me back from the 39 and just continue searching for a 30s.

Good advice. I'm planning on buying a timer to start doing some drills. But I do enjoy the 45 caliber so I was hoping to see how I would like carrying that at 10 rounds. Although I do love my Glock 26 as well.

When you do, be sure the one you buy has a par time feature. (Start and stop beep, adjustable for the time between)

Which ones don't?

I pretty sure there are some shot timers only that don't have the par feature. Just the splits on shots, I also may be mistaken.

The G39 would be very similar (slide slightly larger) to your G26 w/G17 mag sticking out of it. The G39 is usually a 6 round gun. The G37 is a 10-round .45GAP model, similar to a G17 in size (again, the slide is slightly wider).

If you already have a G30, and would consider a G30S but can't get one, might I suggest picking up a G36? That way, you have a sweet 6rd single-stack 45, and you can also take its slide and put it on the G30, and voila! G30S! Or you can also buy a G30S/G36 slide from Gunbroker I think, I haven't looked, but I'm sure they're out there.

Gunbroker is hit or miss. I bought my 36 slide from GB, but I haven't seen a 30S or 36 slide for sale in months. Good luck.

I know you weren't asking me, but I can answer some of this anyways because I use this configuration from time to time as well

The 30S (or 30 with 36 slide, same thing) doesn't fit the standard G30SF holsters very well. It does, however, seem to fit any G36 holster just fine. Which is actually a good thing, because G36 holsters have a lower profile... but the downside is it does mean you need a new holster. Or at least a new Kydex piece for your existing holster, depending on what kind of holster you have.

I have never once had any issues with it performing well in that configuration. In fact, it has arguably worked better than my standard G36, since I've had a few FTE's with my G36, and none on my G30/36 hybrid. (Actually it's techncally a G29/36 hybrid in my case, but the 29sf and 30sf frames are identical to each other). I even use it with my Lasermax guiderod laser without issue.

Keep in mind, some ccw issuing agencies won't allow this sort of non-stock configuration for your carry weapon. Mine, for example, is one of them. So I can only use my 30/36 hybrid for fun at the range, I'm not allowed to carry it that way. If I want to carry a G30s, I have to buy an actual G30s. Grips and sights are all I'm allowed to change (although I did get permission from them to upgrade my recoil springs)
