Springfield XD-9 4"

Thoughts? I shot one at a firing range and really liked it. I bought one today but did not research too much into it. Everyone has their favorites (Glock, Ruger, Beretta, etc.) without saying "Glock 17 is the best one out there!" etc. what are your thoughts on this pistol?

I love the look and the feel is great. It is near weightless and the accuracy was great. Is there a history of issues with it though?

Great pistol.
The only issue that I am aware of is that the striker retaining roll pin would break on some older models with excessive dry firing. Not sure if it was ever fixed but you can find out more detailed info on the XD boards. There are replacement kits for about $12 for 3 that you can get.
I have over 1000 flawless rounds of any ammo without any issues. I do use snap caps for dry fire practice.

I have a XD45 4" and I love it. I don't feel the trigger reset is as short and positive feeling as on my glocks, but I much prefer the grip angle to that of a glock. Good choice

I have the XDS 9mm and have found it to be a fine pistol. Purchased it new about 7 months ago - lots of trips to the range and all is well.

I just bought my XD9, I have about 100 rounds on it and so far so good.

The only weak point has been mentioned - the striker retaining pin might fracture with a lot of dry fires. The easy fix there is to use snap caps while dry firing. Get over to the xdtalk forum and look it up. Don't ask about it there have already been a billion posts about it, look up what has already been posted.

XD sights are really tough to change. Ajames51 on the forum will install the sights on your slide, if you buy your sights from him install is free.

The worst part of owning an XD is getting guff from the Glock owners. Glocks have a lot going for them. I have a Glock. I have 4 XD pistols.

Shoot it, clean it, repeat as necessary.

Still have/love my xd9. It is a great gun for the value. Don't buy into people talking about glock "perfection." You made a great choice. It's not going to be everything that a $1500 pistol is, but it comes close.

Purchased mine in early January, XD9 Tactical since it'll just be a range toy; about 1000 rounds through it with no issues!

My interest in the XD line was triggered quite recently. Just yesterday I was at an LGS holding one and examining extensively.

I like the pointability, the ergonomics, and the overall feel of quality of the gun. My only concern is the relatively sparse aftermarket parts for it, and the expensive cost of the magazines. Not sure if these things will improve in the future.

According to one of the store clerk who owns one, his XD has over 3,000 rounds through it with zero failure, and he cleaned his gun only twice in that span of time.

I like the trigger.. my first comment when I bought my G26 was "wow, this trigger feels like it's from a plastic toy"

I really don't shoot the XD much since getting my Glock(s).
Very accurate and easy to shoot well.

I have the 4" .45 and both of my brothers have the 9mm. Great gun. you will be happy.

I purchased an xd9 4" a month or so ago, one range trip and really like it so far. I liked the feel of the xd in hand better than the glock as well as the cost savings for what I believe to be an equally good gun. I personally like the look of it as well. It may not have the track record yet of Glock but I believe it will. The glock did feel lighter but I don't think the extra weight is necessarily a bad thing, possibly a plus. The more I see people on here constantly trying to shove Glocks down people's throats the happier I am with my decision.

I have a 45 tactical 5" and a 9mm same configuration both are great to shoot.
I sent both to Springfield for trigger jobs and they did an excellent job. The turnaround time was reasonable, and they were very easy to work with.

I took my XD9 4" plus my Advantage Arms 22LR conversion kit to show my neighbor the other day.

He was very impressed with it and the conversion.

He is a Certified Glock Armorer.
