Gee, you guys are thorough. I usually just put my Glock in the dishwasher next to the rest of my tupperware.

Glock Cleaning

I cleaned it before I shot it and cleaned it again after I put the first 300 rounds through. Most people seem to say every 2,000 rounds or so which seems like a lot to me. I dunno though... I enjoy cleaning. I'd probably do it every 500 knowing me. 1,000 if I'm being lazy. (My average range trip is around 500 rounds)
One of my G19's was cleaned at about 800 rounds, and i prob have another 2500 though it without a cleaning. Guessing maybe 3 classes total and a few desert trips. I clean my guns when they tell me they need to be cleaned. If shes running well, she gets left alone, for the most part.
I do find I have to clean my XD's MUCH more frequently than i do my glocks.Comment

Will it hurt anything to do it that often?
I clean my glocks at these times:
1) After purchase, before shooting it
2) After shooting corrosive ammo
3) Before carrying it for CCW
4) If I haven't cleaned it for one of the above reasons in over 2k rounds, I might give it a cleaning if I have nothing better to do.
Anything beyond that is excessive.
It isn't a $4000 C&R 1911 that only comes out of the safe once a year, it's a Glock that I use and carry all the time.
Cleaning it after every range trip is like changing your oil in your honda every time you get home.

Probably not... but it's a huge waste of time.
To answer the OP question: I use Hornady Oneshot for cleaning/lube, plus tetra gun grease on the rails. Done.

Some people enjoy the Zen of gun cleaning.
Others treat gun maintenance like a holy ritual.
As a Glock was designed as a service weapon and not a safe queen, meticulous and frequent maintenance is overkill.
Want to clean it after every range visit, my late father would agree. But he was old enough to remember corrosive ammo being common.
A quick rinse and light lube is enough, unless it is your carry gun.Real Californian...Comment

This is me. I know it's not really necessary, but I always end up cleaning my guns after around 500 rounds. There's nothing more satisfying than making a clean gun dirty, except making a dirty gun clean. Except for making that clean gun dirty again... and so forth and so on.Comment

My "zen tolerance" seems to be about 2 guns, anything more than that and it starts to feel a little too much like work. I get so few opportunities to hit the range, so when I do, I always bring 5 or 6 guns with me. As a result, when I get home, I usually only clean the ones that really need to be cleaned before storage (C&R's and other guns that don't leave the safe very much), and save the Glocks and tacticool longgun cleaning for another day. This is me. It's a GLOCK. It must be stored at Celsius, never at Fahrenheit.I clean my Glock every time after I handle it. The acid and sweat from my hands could be corrosive to the plastic, so I always wear latex gloves. After cleaning it, I vacuum pack it in thick plastic intended to preserve food, and place it in an air conditioned vault that's at constant 64.7F.Comment

I use Hurley's Gold Oil and Grease in one. Of course, I make it!

FYI-My videos don't compete with above.
