9mm Colt 1911

Does anyone have a 9mm Colt 1911? How do you like it? A buddy of mine has a bnib one that he may be looking to part with and I get first dibs.

I have two original 70 series Colt 9mm 1911s and I do like them. But if I had it to do over I might not have spent that much on old guns that just sit in the safe. I'd buy a Springfield loaded 9mm and just get a little work done to make it a sweet shooter instead.

I see the appeal of this too. I would shoot this 1911. There is something appealing about the colt roll mark

To be honest that is why I bought all my Colts. Unfortunately I've learned that you get much less for your money with the the rampant pony mark, and Springfield has become the first choice for anything I consider building. I spent a crapload on my Railgun fixing things like having the out of spec rail milled to fit my Surefire X300, and having the front strap EDM cut and an insert added because it was too thin to checker. My slide was kind of wavy and needed some straightening before I could have the French border cut. Just lots of little things that if the gun wasn't at the gunsmith already I would have complained to Colt about.

That sounds terrible. They def had some qc issues for a while. I feel like the last couple of years colt has been solid

I have two rock island 1911 9mm's. Love them. Only problem is they are unsafe. Don't even know why I have them. Every time I shoot them, I worry I'll have a terrible accident or something. Never happens. In fact all they do is go bang every time and very accurately too. Weird. Thought our overlords were looking out for us.

Not the fanciest or purtiest, but rocks are good to go if ya want a shooter.
