    S&W Model 15 Combat Masterpiece

Thinking about selling my S&W Model 15 Combat Masterpiece. But I have no idea what year it was made or what it might be worth. The box has all off the original accessories including the wax paper and manual, serial number is K9268**. Any help from the community would be great

$650 to $800 in your condition with box and accessories is reasonable. I recently paid $700 for a mint one without a box.

If I didn't already have one, I would be PM'ing the hell out of you. The most pleasant shooting and accurate revolver I own. Being it's a 38 only will hold down the value over a 357 (model 13 or 19)I'd say a minty one w/box would be in the $700 range.

Serial number provided makes it a 1969 vintage.

I'd bet if you put up an ad at $750 it wouldn't last an hour.

I'm in agreement with beerman. With the accessories and in the condition you describe, I'd put a sale price of $700-800 and be pretty confident that it would sell promptly.

If it's not presumptuous to ask, why are you selling it? I only ask because the value will continue to rise as time goes on. Even if you don't want to shoot it, it's a great investment.

Don't sell it. They are such great shooters. The last time I had mine out, I was loading it up with 6 rounds. Some wise ***** asked me what can you hit with that little thing? I pull back the hammer and fired single action at a 200 yard 12' steel plate. Well, I accidentally hit that plate with the first shot. I quickly emptied the other 5 rounds and put the gun away.

Thank you for all of your insight, it was very helpful

I was thinking about selling to build a new ar-15. it's a safe queen that I never take out and I was wanting something that I wasn't afraid to shoot, without the worry of scratching up the finish.

Aw, shoot the thing and enjoy it! It's a great revolver and not easily replaced should you have regrets. Mainly because this stupid state prevents you from bringing one in from out of state. It's old, it's a six shooter, but uh-uh, it's not on the roster. Now once it turns 50, then it's OK. Ridiculous!

But if revolvers really aren't your thing, put it up for sale...it won't last long.

You can buy them from out of state. It has to be by SAE guidelines, however.

That is a great gun. Don't be afraid to shoot it. The Model 15 was the issued duty weapon for the LA County Sheriff's Department for many years. I still have the one that was issued to me in 1978. I will never sell that one.

True, I looked into it and it can be done. Still need to find a willing seller and FFL that will accept it as DA and allow (or perform) the conversion in their shop. Better ask first...this is not common knowledge! It's easy to do...remove the sear or swap out the hammer with one with the sear removed.

Or you can have an out of state middleman receive it, do the conversion, then send it to your local FFL. It just means more time and money.

But if you want something enough...

I think there is a sticky. Yes, here it is.

Sorry to drift off topic, OP. Still think you should hang onto it.
