147gr Federal HST last I was told.My opinions are my own and do not represent the position of other companies I may be involved with. -
Because some folks feel that if they need to defend themselves with a handgun they will be asked why they used certain ammo, and a good answer is thought to be, "because that's what my local law enforcement agency uses."Comment

That's probably all well and fine, if your willing to settle for the lowest bidder type contract. They buy in bulk on contract price, not necessarily the best available. The more likely scenario is what meets their requirements in FBI testing and what can they get at the best price.Comment

Actually that is very untrue. They duplicated their own version of the FBI protocol which they tested their old .40 Ranger-T variant (from what I remember) against the stated 9mm 147gr Federal HST and found the ballistics of the HST superior in their testing which I heard personally from the Rangemaster. Most large departments will stick with the typical FBI approved rounds from the major manufacturers which I don't need to list since it's been repeated many times. My opinions are my own and do not represent the position of other companies I may be involved with.Comment

We don't contract ammo, therefore we do not need to go with the lowest bidder. It is true that we look for deals because we are buying for a whole department and have to work within a budget, but we do test ammunition and we still choose a quality one. That's probably all well and fine, if your willing to settle for the lowest bidder type contract. I'm another fan of the Federal HST 147 (P9HST2).

Glock 17s and 19s with 147gr HST. I have heard both +P and standard pressure. Will ask next time I can.It was just an old plywood boat, with a '75 Johnson, with electric choke. A young boy, two hands on the wheel, I can't replace the way it made me feel.Comment
