    Finally found the "one" 1911

I've been looking for a Wilson CQB for some time to keep my DW Specialist and Sig 1911 company. Today... I decided to stop by a shop that I hadn't been to in a long time for various reasons and lo and behold, they had a Wilson CQB light rail sitting in a case next to some Les Baers, Nighthawks and Ed Browns....

Needless to say... I was not expecting to find one, nor was my bank account lol... but, I ended up putting it on layaway

Should be drossing this beauty soon.

I realized after I left that I should have taken pics of the actual piece, but I was too in awe... which is a rare occasion.

Does anyone here have recommendations on magwells for this bad boy? I was looking at Wilson's bulletproof one piece magwells, but I've had good results with S&A magwells on my past 1911s.

    Any input?

Being a Wilson, I would stick with their accessories as well. Couldn't go wrong with that.

Didn't think about sending it to them as Im half decent at working on my 1911's, but for this special girl, I may... Do you know what the turn-around time is for Wilson's work?

BTW Hopeton, you helped me focus my search for this in a prior thread... I was originally hunting for some Les Baers, but when I saw this... I couldn't pass it up.. Thanks!

            Try running it stock

            Might not need any tinkering

After owning quite a few 1911s, it's more of a preference, but I will definitely be putting rounds downrange before this goes anywhere or gets any work done

The Wilson Bulletproof speed chute is really nice, and much more open than the S&A.
Yea, I'm a bit nervous to try this myself on this piece... I'll give Wilson a call tomm and inquire on costs/time.

It sure is! I'll post pics after I go back to start the DROS process.

I would get the Wilson BP one and just toss it on for now, unblended. Shoot it a bit and see if there's anything else you want done to it, then send it all in to Wilson to blend for you. They'll charge you less since you provided the part.

                    In the meantime, congrats!

Thats kinda what I was thinking. I'll take it to the range and put some rounds through before I do anything else.

                          Congrats!

Definitely run some rounds through it before you send it back to Wilson. In fact, Wilson recommends a 500 round break-in and I would do all of that before you send it off. This way you can be sure there aren't any problems that need to be addressed.

You may also want to pick up some spare parts while it's being worked on...

                          Recoil springs
                          Shock Buffs
                          Firing pin spring
                          Firing pin

There's also a Wilson board over on the 1911 forum if you don't already know about it. It's an excellent resource for all things Wilson and there's a rep from WC that monitors it regularly.

But hey, I guess they gotta make money when they can.

I also was thinking the same thing. I thought that any aditional fees had to be separate from the actual dros fees ($25). This is a pretty high dollar sale, can't imagine what the extra $10 fee would be for. Shoot, they should be paying your dros for spending that kinda money. Not really, but would be nice.
