    CZ DA/SA vs. SAO?

So I was DROS'ing my Glock 19 last night and decided to take a peak at some CZ's while I was at it (because looking at the next one while buying this one is way to go). Looking at the 75B's, I believe there are three versions? DA/SA, SAO, and Decocker version?

I understand the difference between DA and SAO, and I know what a decocker is. And I am first and foremost a 1911 man so I am inclined to look at the SAO version. But are there any differences such a trigger pull or weight between these versions? And which would be the most eligible for a little professional tuning down the line?

I believe the initial DA pull is about 7-9# and the SA pulls after are around 3#, but don't take my word for it I've only been researching as the SP01 is the next one up as well. From what I've read, the fella at Cajun Gun Works can fine tune any CZ that you throw at them..

My first pistol was a CZ 75 SA, which shoots great. Modded with CGW SAO trigger and lightened springs creates a ~2 lb pull.

I believe the standard trigger pulls are all similar in weight, although decocker versions feel grittier because of the additional mechanisms built into it. Decocker pistols are DA/SA as well. The decock puts it into a safe half-cock position with a lighter double action pull. For full decock you'll have to do it manually with your thumb.

All of the CZs are very modifiable (except the Omega version, which isn't on roster anyway), and can be DIY after buying the parts. Decocker pistols are harder to modify by yourself but it doesn't matter if you're going to have it done professionally.

I have the CZ 75B SAO. The trigger starts out lighter than the DA/SA model but I changed to a CGW race hammer and wow. Other differences between the DA/SA and SAO:
SAO has full length rail on slide
        Flat trigger
        Drop-free magazines
        Extended beaver tail

        Great gun.

I think SA pulls among the 3 are very similar. Some differences are beavertail angle (SAO is more upswept so you can hold the gun higher), the cut of the front of the slide (just cosmetic) and the trigger (flatter for SAO). There may be other differences and an expert will be around soon.

If you are first and foremost a 1911 person, which I believe based on your threads and posts, you will likely enjoy the CZ. I consider the CZ 75 as the 1911 in 9mm, with the SP01 as a railed 1911 in 9mm. I sold my 9mm 1911's and kept my CZ's (SP01 and clones) and stayed with that decision. I kept my 1911's in .45ACP

          Good luck. HTH.

Btw, any of the 3 can be tuned with CGW and/or CZC parts. From what I have read, it is a bit different to tune the decocker model.

These are the stock trigger weights on my CZ pistols. My Lyman gauge does not measure beyond 12 lbs.

              75B DA - > 12 lbs SA 5lb 1 oz
              75B SA - 4 lb 10 oz
              75 SP-01 - DA > 12 lbs SA 5lb 12 oz
              P01 - DA 10 lb 3 oz SA 5lb 5oz

I put in lighter springs / firing pin and reduced the trigger pull on the SP-01 and the P01.

The SP-01 DA is now 7lb 11.5 oz The SA is now 4lb 11.6 oz
The P01 DA is now 8lb 1oz , the SA is now 4lb 7.9 oz.

Higher grip, flat trigger, lighter pull... sounds like the SAO is definitely the model for me.

And Trigger945 we've never met but you already know me well. I was thinking the same about the CZ. Plus the 75B has carry and ball cuts stock!

Well, based solely on your posts and our brief PM correspondence, it seems like our preferences for guns are somewhat similar. So if I think of what I may prefer based on your question, then my preference is likely a fit for you. Makes sense?

Let us know what you end up getting. Quite honestly, that 75 SA has been calling my name for a while, too.

It does seem to be the case. I will report back in exactly 30 days (unless I find one via PPT.)

SAO. The flat trigger alone makes it worth it. If I could put the SAO flat trigger on my 75 compact I would.

If you really like 1911's you might just need to get the CZ tactical sport. Not too pricey if you're a 1911 guy and an amazing sao trigger.

                          Are they on-roster?

Most of the ones we mentioned are on roster, if they're the 10rd versions (5-digit part numbers begin with 0 rather than 9). The only one I can think of that is not included is the SP01 Tactical (decocker), and any new models that will come out this year.

                            The 9mm 75B SA is 01150.
                            The 9mm 75 TS is 01172.
