Where to get my side cut

Looking at getting a RMR cut for my m&p 5 inch pro and a P320 eventually as well. I was looking at ATIE or DPcustom. Also looking for advice on what RMR or optic to put on it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Mod1 or ATEI has my vote. As for the MRD, you answered your own question. The Trijicon RMR. The only question is, what dot size do you want. Stay tuned for the debate.

Just something to think about...

I looked into this a year ago or so. And when I started adding up the cost to get the slide done, the cost to purchase and install taller suppressor sights, and the cost to ship the gun to the Smith, I was over half of the price of what the gun costs. And at that point, I decided I would rather spend a little more and get a whole new gun, so I bought a new M&P CORE instead.


I'm a fan of the RMR 06.

I was at Retting's in Culver City last week and they had the whole line of Doctor sights. At what I thought were fantastic prices. I know some may not be a fan of Retting's but I've had nothing but great dealings their the 4 or 5 times I'd been there. I had thought Dr sights were no longer being made. I have never owned one but at half of what an RMR runs I'd give it a try given their great reputation.

Honestly- Doug at ATEI has that down to a science.

Success is in the fit. Most guys who are shooting RMR equipped guns are going through RMR repairs like nobody's business. Doug takes your exact RMR optic and fits it to slide, damn near a press fit. Not all RMRs are identical in size. The housing is a forging and they vary slightly externally. By many accounts, this press fit helps with the longevity of the optic by eliminating some of the play found in cookie-cutter, optic ready slides with tolerances that leave room for that variation in size. Plus, ATEI does super clean work and are very, very reputable.

I've got both a custom ATEI and a Zev factory cut slide. Both Glock.
I've had a factory CORE M&P that is cut for many optic types- If I were going to do another M&P,
I'd get a standard model and send it to be cut for my specific optic type, and I'd send it to Doug. Hope that helps.

As far as RMRs go. I do an adjustable LED. Either RM06 or RM07.

The dual illuminated models:
A) bloom in bright light. You can adjust this with a sharpie or tape. (just like an ACOG)
B) they do not pick up enough light at night to use with a WML. The WML washed out the dot.

The standard LED Non-adjustable, It "auto adjusts", and has the same issue as the Dual Illuminated for me in low light.
Or I simply could not use it in conjunction with NVG because it was too bright. (that my not be an issue for you)

Overall, I just stuck with the adjustable LED. YMMV

Unfortunately I can't can't get a Core and can't seem to find a CORE slide in 4.25 or 5 inch

The wrong answer is trying to save some money by sending it to a low cost outfit (like here) and using a lower cost optic.

I was leaning towards ATIE because I've seen some of their work in person. I just didn't know if there was a better company that I haven't heard of. DPCUSTOM has some great reviews to. After seeing everyone say ATIE I think that's what I'll end up doing. As far as optics. I think I'll do the adjustable one. That seems to be what a lot of people are doing.

I agree with Hopeton. Don't cheap out. Spend the money and send it to ATEI.

I never intended to go cheap. Although 160 seems very reasonable for the service.
