It is a nice looking 1911 with great fit and finish. Worth it if you like to spend the money for looks and the name. It shoots pretty much like the Springfield's 1911 or Kimber's which are on roster and sell for under 1K.

        Just my .02 cents

Is it worth the hype? if there is any?

YES ,DW make a very nice 1911 gun fitting very good, use to be best bang for buck in 1911 style

          Pros Cons?
Pro ...off roster , 9mm in 1911 style, work like champ
cons...only get from out of state and pay more the other

Whats the price range on them?

New in box in CA about $1850-2100 use $1600-1800...new other state $1450 or so/

if U want it have fund for it ,,should try but other 9mm in 1911 style in CA market also like SA or Kimber for less

DW it better build ( that my idea, I like it)
          good luck

For $2,000 I'd spend $1,000 on a SA Loaded Target and another $1,000 worth of custom work from SACS. You can get an Action job, checkering, and quite a few other things.

Cons: it is obviously not safe for you to have otherwise it would be on the 'roster'.

Recommend you go to the 1911 forum to get some answers from those who own them.
DW is quite a few notches above a Kimber or Springfield.

The PM9 is nice if you can get it for a free state price($1300) but overpriced in CA($2000). What makes DW's nice is you get a lot for your money but when they start costing 2k, there are other options IMHO. I have one and put 200 rounds through it this morning and it ran great. The trigger really broke in nice and it's almost too easy to shoot.

                        Dan Wesson PM9

If a Glock Gen 4 in KA values for $900 to $1,000, then $2,000 for a DW PM9 is definitely worth it.

Maybe I just got a good one but the fit and finish on mine is far superior to the Springfields and Kimbers that I've seen/shot. I haven't shot one that has been upgraded by the SA shop but that seems like a good option if it's gonna cost you 2K. My PM9 is one of my favorite guns. The only CON is that once you own a PM9 you'll want to buy a Valor

I'm debating myself between the pm9 or guardian 9mm

The Dan Wesson pm9 was my last sse purchase. Have shot 1200 or so rounds with it and really am happy with this gun. No regrets buying it. Fun and very accurate to shoot. Now I really want the pm7 which is still on roster.
